"byte stream" is the noun, "byte-stream" is the adjective. Don't move this to "byte-stream"! Noel (talk) 16:05, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
IMHO a "byte stream" is not a channel and should not be tied closely to STREAMS library; it is an abstraction behind any UNIX file (as opposed to earlier data set (IBM mainframe)). I don't claim to be an expert, but shouldn't formal definition be changed? --Kubanczyk 10:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
