Worst sentence I've read in ages[edit]

"In one notable exception, some regard a case with two men and three women with the three foci of activity being the first man and one of the women, the second man and another woman and the third woman having sex either with one of the man-woman pairs, the other pair, or with both women, or, most commonly, rapidly cycling through all three of them, to be a special case which is not an orgy but rather a 3-on-2, cyclic ménage-à-trois, horseshoe orgy, or other terms which vary widely with locale and group"

Wow, that has to be the worst run-on sentence I've read in all of my years on Wikipedia...

I'd also like to add that the mention of the prevalence of fantasies of bestiality here seems unjustified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.206.231.119 (talk) 00:23, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand and you are right.

Consenusality[edit]

Is there a source for the limitation to "consensual" in the change to the intro "Group sex is consensual sexual behavior involving more than two participants. Forcible group sexual behaviour is termed gang rape"? Both sentences seem to be wrong to me. Group sex need not be consensual, and gang rape is usually taken to mean several agents successively having non-consensual sex serially with one victim, which is not the only form of non-consensual sex involving more than two people. But anyway, citations needed here. Kenilworth Terrace (talk) 17:02, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge ORGY into Group Sex[edit]

"Orgy" is an embarrassing Clampettesque term for sex between more than 2 people, the neutral, objective designation of the semantic content. Sex party should just be deleted or worked up in a different sense, currently this is all in conflict with Group Sex to which the other two should have any unique content merged and then become redirects to it. 72.228.177.92 (talk) 04:48, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NON-CONCUR: There is nothing odd with the term orgy, and should not be dismissed simply because someone dislikes the cultural baggage it has accrued. The term is widely used by those who actually engage in orgies and is advertised and promoted in media, writings, advertisements and even names for rooms at swinger clubs, i.e. Orgy Den. For many people the difference between an orgy and group sex is significant. The former retains some of its cultural baggage in meaning and is often used for sex with more than 2 people that is less inhibited, less discriminate, some anonymity, more wild, possibly bisexual, quite raucous, and maybe quite drunk. Whereas Group Sex could simply be a polyamorous relationship or a regular Saturday night at someone's home with friends and couples they've fucked for years. JVB, 25 April 2012

NON-CONCUR: Simply because I looked for Orgy and would not agree that group sex and a true Bacchanalian orgy would be the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.225.193.249 (talk) 06:06, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Off topic chat

So what is a session where: 1 woman sits on your face, one rides your erection, one rides your left hand whilst another rides your right and one woman rides each foot? Yes it happened to me some years ago and I would love to repeat the experience and yes there is a video and photos.

WTF I have no idea what this is to be called....

I've boldly assumed consensus...[edit]

..and merged "sex parties" into this article. It's okay to boldly revert my actions. --I dream of horses (T) @ 20:59, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NON-CONCUR: There is considerable disagreement on conflating Group Sex and Orgy. Swingers in particular see a lot of difference between the two including divergence on intent, numbers, practices and acts, sexual orientation, concurrence, and affinity. Suffice to say, they see an Orgy as a much wilder, unrestricted and varied group of individuals with widely disparate factors engaging in sex, whereas, Group Sex as smaller, more intimate, and likely to retain much more affinity than an orgy. JVB.

Key party and Rainbow party[edit]

I reverted the 10 September 2013‎ edit which removed the subheading for "Rainbow party", thus restoring the subheading. Reason: without the subheading, the "Rainbow party" text appeared to be in the "Key party" section, and the two are unrelated.

Furthermore, I suggest that the "Key party" section be moved from this article ("Group sex") to the "Swinging" article (since, according to this article, key party participants pair up and go elsewhere, so it's not really "group sex" as the article defines it). Or move it to its own article? (Rainbow party has it's own article, though nobody even knows if they ever existed!)

Also, I changed the redirect for "Lock and key party" which used to point to this article, because that kind of party is unrelated to group sex or to key parties (despite the similar name). However, a previous version of that page contains information about key parties that should probably be preserved somewhere (but was deleted when the entry was changed to a redirect). -- 64.130.10.13 (talk) 20:46, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bunga bunga[edit]

SummerPhD reverted my edit saying this was an Italian term. The following is my query and her reply, from her Talk page.

Do you have any evidence that this term is or has been used anywhere but Italy, or in discussing Berlusconi? deisenbe (talk) 1:59 pm, Yesterday (UTC−7) Per the source cited in the article:"Silvio—I call him Silvio and not daddy as he would like to be called—told me he'd copied that expression, bunga-bunga, from Gaddafi," Ruby told a reporter for La Repubblica newspaper referring to the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. "It's a rite of his African harem." - SummerPhD (talk) 2:17 pm, Yesterday (UTC−7)

This is very suspicious. Underwater sex in a desert country? Yes, there are pools. But it doesn't "ring true". (I've been to Libya.) Arabic doesn't even have a "g". I have no source, but I much suspect Berlusconi made this up, which would be quite in character for him. deisenbe (talk) 14:38, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Gaddafi likely had access to pools, hot tubs and a thousand miles of coastline on the Mediterranean.
More to the point, the usage here is poorly documented. We cite a blog as saying "a bunga bunga orgy is an orgy in which participants have sex underwater, such as in a swimming pool or a hot tub." The source (such as it is) actually says "an erotic ritual known as "bunga-bunga," which is said to be a sort of underwater orgy where nude young women allegedly encircled the nude prime minister and/or his friends in his swimming pool." Thus, not a general term for an orgy underwater, but a "sort of" underwater orgy involving the PM and his friends encircled by young women. Our article, Bunga bunga (yes, of course we have an article on it) gives numerous other meanings and possible origins. I do not see any indication that this is a common expression in English used to simply refer to an underwater orgy. - SummerPhD (talk) 21:23, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a clinical term?[edit]

Is there a clinical term for someone who has a sexual fetish for orgies or group sex? For example, sapiosexuals, from the Latin root "sapien" meaning wise, are those sexually attracted to clever people. There's no shortage in the list of paraphilias, but I haven't found one for this, (see also: https://thoughtcatalog.com/sylvie-quinn/2018/05/sexual-fetishes/) and IMO, it should be included in this article. ~ JasonCarswell (talk) 19:50, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
