Hello. I hope that I am typing this in the correct area. This is my first attempt to create an article. You have deleted the article about Wildcat Theatre Company. ( 18:52, 17 May 2010 JoJan (talk | contribs) deleted page Wildcat Theatre Company (A7: Article about an eligible subject, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)) Could you please restore it in order that I, and others, can significantly add to the piece? There is an enormous archive of material about this extremely important entity, which played a massive part in the cultural, musical, theatrical and political life of Scotland for over twenty years. Incidentally the correct name of the organisation is "Wildcat Stage Productions", although it is often, erroneously, called "Wildcat Theatre Company". Hey this Kane Alexander page I created was to give people a general background of him, not to sell him. I had no idea that it would be under the category of deletion!

Trigger Happy[edit]

Dear Administrator: I, like you, am an editor; I create articles and make edits. But, many, I am sure many other people out there, are tired, frustrated and angry with the behavior of many Administrators. I am certain that it is appallingly easy to revert and article, that someone has undoubtedly spent allot of time and effort writing. I have, in the past spent hours, researching, planning, writing, checking and revising an addition to an article only to have the whole lot deleted forever three minutes afterwards.

I know that deletion of material is essential in a free-to-edit encyclopedia, but if you see an article that someone has anonymously devoted their time to writing, why could you not revise it, change it or give a reason for you action? They deserve one.

I know all Administrators are not all Drunk-With- Power-Trigger-Happy-Nazis, many of you do an excellent job and you know who you are. The world owes you. I owe You.

In closing: Create, don’t Destroy. Make a distinction between “what is right, and what is easy”. Be enriched and enrich others with the knowledge of other people.

And keep that finger off the trigger.

"Dreams from my Father"[edit]

Yes, this would seem to be an eminently defensible piece of fair use (especially if you discuss the cover at some point in the text). Upload it, mark it {{book cover}}, and cite the source as the Amazon page.

Incidentally, there's several editions of this book, but you only list a single ISBN. I'd suggest finding the others and listing them as well... Shimgray | talk | 21:36, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Idea for a Welcome Bot[edit]

I disagree. Many welcomers make their own messages. By receiving a message from a bot, the result is that people will not feel welcome because it is simply a message that is being repeated over and over and over again. I change my welcome messages at least once a week, so generally, my messages are different. Bots are inhuman, and people prefer to be greeted by people who are living and have a pulse and heart.

Thanks for the kind comment's in the PR for Alison Krauss and thanks for the Good Article nod. I'm especially thankful for the note you made about it being well-referenced, as if you look at this version when I started editing it was a slow and plodding process to remove all the fancruft and reference the thing properly. Staxringold talkcontribs 02:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You made some very helpful comments on the Alison Krauss PR, and it is currently up at FAC. A somewhat new user has lodged an objection, though IMO does not fully understand the principles of WP:WIAFA. Could you put in a vote if you have the time (whether you support or oppose the article's candidacy) just so the FAC takes a better course? Thanks! Staxringold talkcontribs 15:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry for marking up your userpage last time, my mistake. I've added (and am going to continue to add to) a new "Artistry" section per Mariah Carey to encompass the various critical reviews of things. Any updated comments in the FAC would be a help, even if I don't get the job done to reverse your opinion by the end of the FAC. Thanks! Staxringold talkcontribs 22:26, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've made some severe additions, any further review by you would be greatly appreciated. Staxringold talkcontribs 22:25, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please give it a review. You've not posted on the FAC since your first opposition and the article has grown much more comprehensive and better sourced. Staxringold talkcontribs 16:36, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LEAD[edit]

I clearly understand the concept of the lead and have placed the articles on hold because the lead sections do not represent the breadth of the article. For example, the lead section will talk about the person in general with his practices and all and the article will only go through his biography without even mentioning any personal traits. I'm exaggerating a bit there, if you take a look at the lead section and the article, they don't match. Lincher 17:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Philanthropist, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Philanthropist. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. — Sebastian (talk) 03:38, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Categories of Jewish Athletes[edit]

Hi. I know that this is an issue that has interested you in the past. At http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion#Category:Jewish_fencers some people are suggesting that Jewish athletes, beginning with Jewish Fencers, should be deleted. I do not think that is the correct approach, or consistent with wiki policy, and thought that others might want to weigh in on the discussion. --Epeefleche 23:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Palmer Bumbing Image[edit]

The copyright on the image says the author died over 100 years ago. However, the image was created less than 100 years ago, making it physically impossible for the author to have died over 100 years ago. Watersoftheoasis 22:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attempt to delete subcategory of Jewish athletes[edit]

Well, they are trying to delete a category of Jewish athletes again. This time, figure skaters. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_April_14#Category:Jewish_figure_skaters . I pointed out to the originator of the attempt that we had addressed this general issue already with the main category and with Jewish fencers, where the attempts failed (due in part to your help). Still, they insist on trying to delete this category. Any help by your weighing in on the issue would be appreciated. Thanks again. --Epeefleche 00:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)--Epeefleche 20:12, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dreams from my father.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dreams from my father.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User: BanRay[edit]

Please could you or another administrator get the user BanRay to quit harrassing me. He keeps reverting my edits to the Maria Sharapova page, I think just because my vision for the article conflicts with his, and has even tried complaining to others about how my edits are "vandalism", even though they are just simple edits that I think improve the page! Obviously, I could understand him editing PARTS of the page if he disagrees, but reverting the whole thing is uncalled for imo. He has also implied that I am another user, Musiclover565 (see my discussion page) simply because me and him share similar visions for the article. I would really appreciate being able to edit in peace, without having to fear BanRay reverting them. Thank you. 92.1.182.171 (talk) 14:42, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry dear, but you do not revert 62 constructive edits without giving a good reason. If you are not a sockpuppet, which I, personally, really doubt, especially since you both come from the same town and use the same internet provider, I will remind you that Musiclover565 was banned for doing exactly the same what you are doing at the moment. And no, I haven't complained to anyone about your edits. The reason your edits are constantly reverted by other experienced editors is because they constitute nothing but vandalism. I will once again strongly recommend you to revert your edits, otherwise I will have to leave you another warning. If you still find my actions unjustified, WP:AN/I would be the best place to complain, although we both know it won't do you much good. Take care. BanRay 15:26, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your first comment does not make sense. You say don't revert constructive edits without a good reason - then why have you reverted mine without providing a good reason? I highly doubt that I come from the same town as Musiclover565 (would you even be able to tell if you're not an admin?). And you did complain to Milk's Favourite Cookie about my edits.
Again, I would appreciate it if the harrassment stopped, and you left me to make constructive edits in peace. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.1.182.171 (talk) 15:38, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, I have never been in touch with Milk's Favorite Cookie, let alone complaining to him. And you are more than welcome to continue with constructive edits, reverting 64 edits to restore an old version of the page against the consensus of other editors, however, is not considered constructive. Such edits will be reverted either by me or other editors. Now please stop polluting the talk page of another editor. BanRay 21:53, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of The Carolinas[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Carolinas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Add. Since you had some involvement with the Add redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Steel1943 (talk) 20:03, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Photograph of skulls in Colon Cemetery[edit]

The use of the photograph of bones in the ossary of the Colon cemetery in Havana as evidence of the deaths caused by the Reconcentración policy applied by Weyler is not acceptable. It is an obvious attempt to shock the reader but the image is totally unrelated to those events. Dirdam2 (talk) 08:05, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
