Publicist[edit]

This is Chamillionaire's publicist. Please remove: Chamillionaire will begin promoting his new custom "Color Changing Kicks" shoe line. He is not launching a shoe line. Completely false. Also, please remove any reference to Bill Collecta being the official second single. Not true. Thanks.

Headline text[edit]

There's no mention of the mixtapes Tippin Down 2005 nor Big Business with Stat Quo here.. could someone add em?56 16 Jun 2006 (UTC)

This was unbelievably easy to Wikify as an original article. Is there any more information about Universal Records and Swishahouse etc. for input?--McDogm 20:45, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts?

Chamillionaire is Muslim[edit]

He is a Muslim so I think it should be on his page if you read his bio it says that "Growing up as a child of four in a strict household run by a Christian mother and a Muslim father, he was not allowed to curse". And he also says in interviews that he don't drink or smoke and Muslims aren't allowed to drink or smoke. He also never wears a cross so that shows you guys. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.41.184.116 (talk) 20:18, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chamillionaire's Birthplace[edit]

Just curious... Where was Chamillionaire born? this seems like a disputed issue.. Was he born in Houston, TX or another part of Texas or was he born in Washington DC? Some people claim he was born in Wisconsin... Hmmmm...

Edit by me xP: He was born in Washington!!! Really. In a rare verse he says: "Washington DC gave me birth, but Houston gave me milk from the breast".

Association with Motown Records[edit]

According to the Motown Records article on Wikipedia, Chamillionaire was signed with them too. Understandably, Universal owns Motown, but it would be nice to get some firmer information to the labels he has been signed with. Guroadrunner 04:28, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article problems[edit]

None of the trivia is cited, and the article sounds very biased. Is the statement "He is known for his ability to change the tempo and rhyme scheme of his rapping within a single song, and for the rapid, clear, and distinct quality of his delivery and voice" really true? clear voice? listen to "Ridin" and try to identify the lyrics... I would like to see some reference to sources that give this artist that much praise (or any references at all, for that matter, considering the article uses direct quotes that are not attributed to anyone)

I have no problem identifying his lyrics Vickfan 22:43, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Major Releases[edit]

Is there a reason why The Sound of Revenge is broken up into a Major Releases sub-heading? It seems to break up the flow of the Discography. I think that the note of Platinum is enough to denote its popular appeal. I would not be opposed to dividing it up into Mixtapes and Albums, but then would Screwed and Chopped be considered an album? --Heaven's Wrath (Talk) 02:44, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Religion[edit]

I just want to inform people who keep changing the article that he is a Muslim, he is not a Muslim he is a Christian. He even says it when he was doing an interview with AllHipHop.com you check it out here Bazel 04:16, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed[edit]

The albums chronology, a lot of infoboxes and information where messed up. All fixed now.

Also, was "Man On Fire" released on 2006 or 2005? I decided to put it on 2006 because it had a date (June 10). Change it if it's not correct.

Michaelas10 12:25, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it again. We can't go on like this forever, please verify the discography and possibly merge the album chronology and mixtape chronology. Michaelas10 09:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another mixtape (or album) not mentioned[edit]

There is no mention of the mixtape/album "Houston, We have a problem" I have never heard it myself, but allmusic.com has a review for it with samples from the album.

Maybe could mention that "Controversy Sells" also sold a lot, in the section with "Get ya mind correct" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.247.164.180 (talk) 19:54, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

90% of the "Early Career" section has been plagiarised from numerous Chamillionaire biographies written by music websites. So, it's gone pending rewrite. I know it leaves a huge hole, but laziness is no excuse for copying and pasting. The Chief 10:31, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added the Mainstream Albums section and entered info into there. However, can someone make the table so it expands fully to the right like it is in Jay-Z's Wikipedia entry? Also, someone could also do the underground albums table/section.

Controversy[edit]

What the heck does this mean?

Recently, Chamillionaire says that he hates beef, especially after the release of Hip Hop Is Dead, and the appearance of what looks like an East Coast Vs. South conflict, and has blamed Corporate America instead, for the downfall of hip hop. He has asked all fans to forget the hip hop beefs, even his own. This is clear on the "Hip Hop is Dead (Skit)" on his recent mixtape, Mixtape Messiah pt. 2

He doesn't like meat products made from cow? Or is this a slang term? The wording here is strange and confusing to me. Also, it is a terrible run-on sentence. Hyperform 06:27, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It means that Cham don't like people beefing... especially about the conflict with who's killing hip hop, the South or the East Coast. But on Mixtape Messiah pt. 2, he blamed Corporate America for the killing of Hip Hop.

That doesn't explain what "beefing" is. Holding a grudge? Having a row? The context seems to be displacing blame onto other people? Hyperform 05:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

50 Cent Problem?[edit]

Marriage and shoe-line[edit]

Chamillionaire's singles[edit]

His singles section is wrong now. Bill Collecta has been scrapped as a second single for Ultimate Victory. Chamillionaire confirmed himself that Industry Groupie is his second single on his Myspace blog.

Possible copyright violation[edit]

There could be a copyright problem here. The Early career section sounds copy pasted. A Google search turns up some possible concerns. --S.dedalus (talk) 04:51, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

that article came after the one on wikipedia, they took it from wikipedia Bazel (talk) 23:14, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is he listed as an African American?[edit]

He is a Nigerian American and this should be made clear, as recent African immigrants and their descendants are culturally very different from the descendants of the Africans brought as slaves during the slave trade. The two shouldn't be lumped together as they are different groups. 86.129.92.149 (talk) 13:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've now removed him from all African American categories. ElijahTM (talk) 09:27, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

JBsupreme, why did you put him back in the categories? As has been mentioned, he is not a member of the African American ethnic group. ElijahTM (talk) 15:45, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And where is Nigeria located, Europe? Read West Africa, and know where Nigeria is. Since he was born and raised in the U.S. of African parents, it therefore makes him African-American. Period. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:32, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nigeria is part of Africa. While recent immigrants from Africa are different than those that immigrated earlier, it doesn't change the fact that his ancestors are from the same continent. My lineage is similar to this example (though not of Africa). 98.198.83.12 (talk) 01:41, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo caption[edit]

[Mosmof Mods to this page] Can't see what this user seems to have that may appear to be growing personal against 5W Public Relations, yet her edit war and then making mods to links and captions that have been on Wiki for quite some time are beginning to look like a trend. I'd recommend that thius user halt for a while and tread carefully. PalinforVeep (talk) 13:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a problem with Mosmof's edit. The photo captions seemed needlessly promotional. — Satori Son 13:16, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Less about the edit and more as the stalking nature of the user... editors and admins here should look at objectivity. What's needless about stating where the picture took place. There are many captions that do that on Wiki in every language. PalinforVeep (talk) 13:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since you say it's "Less about the edit and more" about the user, your comment here is misplaced. This page is primarily for discussing the article and edits to the article. Mixtape Messiah (the first one) & Mike Jones diss[edit]

There was a very thorough feature article in the Houston Press about the rise and fall of Mike Jones. It says about Jones:

"He'd hit unexpected turbulence at the height of his underground success, in the form of Chamillionaire's The Mixtape Messiah in early 2005. The album's three discs were almost entirely devoted to intricate and specific take-downs of Jones — for, among other things, lying about his past, his dealings with Magno and his outlandish shit-talking and braggadocio, extreme even for a rapper, which quite possibly ignited the feud."

I know very little about Chamillionaire but the omission of his 2005 Mixtape Messiah album seems to be an oversight. Does it merit a mention, along with his feud with Mike Jones? Here is a source: http://www.houstonpress.com/2009-07-23/music/mike-jones-who/5. Greenth (talk) 16:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Feud with Paul Wall[edit]

The former feud with former associate Paul Wall, is omitted but needs to be included, as it was monumental in shaping his solo career and is what allowed Chamillionaire to have a distinct solo career from his other Houston affiliates. TheHappiestCritic (talk) 18:54, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
