"Catiline"[edit]

In the quotation from Mirabeau, I can't find an appropriate article to link for "Catiline". I wouldn't be surprised if we have something under another form of the name; I presume the reference is to ancient Rome. Does anyone know what individual is referred to? -- Jmabel 01:43, Aug 20, 2004 (UTC)

somewhat obscure question[edit]

National Assembly existed from June 17 to July 9, 1793[edit]

Expansion of membership[edit]

The assembly started as the elected third estate. I can understand members of the 1st and second estates joining them - "joined by some of the nobles and the majority of the clergy. At this stage the 3rd estate had no independent power. The claim that it "consolidated the public debt and declared all existing taxes to have been illegally imposed, but voted in these same taxes provisionally" is surely wrong.203.80.61.102 (talk) 07:44, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For the merger debate...[edit]

Still seems to me that there is enough of a distinction and enough substance to this article that it is worth keeping the two separate. If anything, for Anglophone readers it is all the more useful to separate out these different entities, because the topic is new to so many Anglophones, and the distinctions are easily lost.
