Untitled[edit]

I removed the following sentence, since I couldn't figure out how to rework it:

As Secretary, he generally tried to make the department more consumer friendly, such as supporting farmers.

1990 veto of anti-abortion legislation[edit]

Sweeping claims about this, such as that it generated intense nationwide attention or controversy, are speculative and hard to classify as anything other than opinion. Even if carefully sourced, such descriptions are somewhat suspect. Without credible sources, such broad statements probably don't belong in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LanternLight (talkcontribs) 02:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The AP story on his death is available here.. (I'm unsure how to construct the footnote.) Sca (talk) 14:33, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note about the date of death. Some early reports incorrectly reported that his death was on 23 Aug 2017. This was in error, and major news outlets have issued corrections (to 24 Aug 2017), but there may be some uncorrected sources out there. Please stop changing the date back and forth.
