Hello, Mike Stramba, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need help on editing pages visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page or for formatting them visit our manual of style. Experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump.

I'm sorry about the unwelcoming reaction you've had, and apologise for my own contribution to that. We are, of course, very happy that you are contributing your knowledge of aviation to the project, and very much hope that you will stay and contribute more in the future. :) I admit that my page moves may not have been the most sensible ones, but I thought that they would at least appease those who thought the original titles were too unwieldy. You can move the pages elsewhere if you want to. There is a "Move this page" feature at the side of each page.

As for removing your links to separate pages on each different aircraft attitude, I admit that I shouldn't have done that. I just thought that the information on each one wouldn't need a whole page to itself, and that the information could be added in the same page. To be honest, I don't know how anything about the subject, so I shouldn't make such hasty judgements. I'll put the links back, okay? :) Oliver P. 05:12, 30 Oct 2003 (UTC)

  • Oliver, no problem. I guess I over reacted a bit. It was a bit annoying to spend around an hour working on the pages, then seeing them instantly changed. But I suppose that's part of the "game" here <g>. And it's easy enough to change things back. As for the "titles" thing, I'll have to discuss that later on, but briefly my feeling is that this is *not* a book, it's an electronic art form. If people just want a boring online dictionary with exact and perfect rules and such, I think that can stifle some of the creative juices that might otherwise flow. I.e. my attempt at some light humor to make a technical subject a bit less dry. Why you instantly felt the need to remove it is beyond me

Mike, I just wanted to extend my welcome to you as well. I don't know anything about the debacle that apparently greeted you here (I saw some of it on Votes for Deletion, but I tend to avoid pitched battles when already in progress), but I hope that you were spoken to courteously, and as one of the myriad of administrators here I apologize on behalf of our community if you were rudely dealt with. If there's any question I can answer for you, please feel free to drop me a note on my talk page.

Regarding your comments about the titles, etc., I understand where you're coming from. I guess all I can say is that Wikipedia is trying to bridge the art forms here, and certainly it's not always perfect. We try, though, to keep titles to a more traditional format because most people, when searching through an encyclopedia, print or online, are familiar with that format. I don't know if anyone's pointed you to Wikipedia:Naming conventions, but certainly it would be a good place to go. If you disagree with what's there, you should post a note on that article's talk page (and probably a note announcing your post at the village pump to make sure people notice). We're open for discussion around here, though I think you'll probably find that folks are reluctant to switch horses midstream on the title issue. Express your opinion anyway, though: we need and value diversity of opinion here (even if we show it badly). Once again, welcome to Wikipedia, and let me know if I can help you at all. • Hi Jw,
    • Well it wasn't exactly a "debacle" <g>. Only 3 or 4 other humans on our tiny little planet taking an interest in what I was doing :) I guess I was just a bit un prepared to have instant critisicm / editing done. I'll stick around for a while and probably get used to it and little more "thick skinned" <g> Mike Stramba 01:33, 1 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Referring ships[edit]

Hi, Mike. Based on your comment here, I recommend to start this discussion at the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships/Guidelines and to inform also WP:Ships. As changing between she and it needs consensus, before changing current articles, a discussion is needed. The current policy is stated here. Beagel (talk) 14:57, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
