The image you uploaded, Image:CCC Logo 2.jpg, is taken right off the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Chamber of Commerce web site[1]. How could that be a public domain image created by the US federal government, as you marked it? Also, please try to make use of the edit summary a bit more when editing articles. Image copyright problem with Image:Hudspeth_Lucite.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hudspeth_Lucite.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 07:55, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul László[edit]

Hallo Peter,
I presume that you are the son or grandson of Paul László. In the German WP we discussing the deletion of a rather crude machine translation of the EN:WP article about your relative.
In order to encourage somebody to write a valuable translation, would you consider to upload your pictures into commons.wikipedia.org were all language versions can use these. --Bahnmoeller 21:59, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In order to upload images into the commons goto: http://commons.wikipedia.org and choose a username (same precedure as in the EN:WP)
Then use the 'Upload file' link on the left and follow the instructions. As you have already uploaded images into the EN:WP I thnik you should be fine. --Bahnmoeller 09:36, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:MaxineFife.jpg[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MaxineFife.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 82.83.96.252 10:18, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References in the Paul László article[edit]

You removed the link to a magazine article mentioning Julius Shulman's collection of architectural photographs of Paul László's work. I didn't think of this as a commercial website. The link to a biography written by a member of the firm "LA Modern Auctions" is certainly more arguable. This is fine, but the article needs some standard references that are publicly accessible - even though you are personally the main authority on him. Please e-mail me (through the Wikipedia mechanism - go to my page User:Easchiff) if you wish to discuss these things privately. I have a personal connection to László, who was the architect, in 1938, of my grandparents' home in Hollywood. He included their home in his 1947 book (pp. 28-29) that described his first decade of US commissions.EAS 15:41, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editing tag[edit]

An editor posted an editing tag to indicate that the assertion:

  • Paul László ... is considered a giant amongst the furniture designers, interior designers, and architects of the 20th century.

is uncited. I noticed you deleteed the tag without adding any source for it. I'm going to restore the tag until we can find a source for this claim. I'm sure it's true, but it also needs to be verifiable. -Will Beback · · 02:54, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MEL Hurrell.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MEL Hurrell.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:ME Laszlo 1943.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ME Laszlo 1943.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Lucite chair.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Lucite chair.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 12:14, 23 February 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 12:14, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:PL with parking sign.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PL with parking sign.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 20:11, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Road to Utopia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Road to Utopia.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Carved Lamp.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Laszlo2. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Paul László, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. The Dissident Aggressor 18:09, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
