Dispute with TikTok star[edit]

A TikTok star and black activist Savannah Edwards accused her of being a white supremacist and racist causing major backlash against Edwards over the racial controversy.[1] Should this be mentioned at all?194.247.60.2 (talk) 08:04, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, per WP:NOTNEWS. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:05, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace in the Infobox[edit]

Is it necessary to be written as "[[Brooklyn, New York]], U.S." instead of simply "New York City, U.S."? The article has already mentioned she was born in Brooklyn. Thedarkknightli (talk) 17:07, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brooklyn is more specific thus more informative. It's frequently used in infoboxes, such as Tony Danza, Carl Sagan, Marisa Tomei, Janet Yellen, Mel Brooks, Rhea Perlman, Eddie Murphy, Mae West. And in Milano's case, she is often identified as a Brooklynite, such as her Brooklyn accent in performances such as Who's the Boss? and Casualties of Love: The "Long Island Lolita" Story. There's no reason that it shouldn't be in the infobox. Brooklyn has been in the infobox for ten years, making it the WP:IMPLICITCONSENSUS. Sundayclose (talk) 17:38, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Brooklyn is bigger than most U.S. cities. Why shouldn't we be as specific as this? – Muboshgu (talk) 17:51, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see. Then should articles of people born in any of the other boroughs (e.g. Al Pacino, Jennifer Lopez, and Jesse Eisenberg) be treated in the same way? Thedarkknightli (talk) 18:37, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a problem with use of boroughs in other articles, but there is no policy that requires it. WP:IMPLICITCONSENSUS should be respected, so in such cases there should be talk page discussion. Sundayclose (talk) 18:50, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate for a BLP?[edit]

Chiselinccc can you please clarify why the removed comments are inappropriate for a personal life section? My reasoning for continued inclusion is that it was an example of her actions outside of a work life, ergo a personal life. Not only that, but once the subject - ie Britney - responded Milano reacted again and apologised, and as such it wasn't a one-off thing. Moreover, as per WP:BLPSOURCE this was reported by several new outlets, and checking the text in each shows significant differences, (quoted material notwithstanding,) so they're not simply copy and pasting each others' work or using a press release:

  1. The Independent
  2. Los Angeles Times
  3. The NME
  4. Cosmopolitan

Notably The NME and Cosmo articles are early releases that predate Milano's response and apology. Chaheel Riens (talk) 19:10, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chaheel Riens how on earth is this a prominent or important part of this living person's biography? This is nothing short of a dramatic "TMZ" style "gossip" item, based on nonsensical interactions from social media. If you want to defame living subjects with this sort of content, good luck. Do NOT ping me again, I have no desire to interact with you. Chiselinccc (talk) 19:14, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted your insight as to your reasons for removal. That's what discussion is for. Obviously you feel strongly about it, and that's cool. Choosing to respect your request not to ping, but still asking what is an important question given that we're talking about BLP: How exactly does this subject defame a living person? The topic in question has been covered widely, is verifiable - and whilst I'm amenable to your reasoning for continued removal, I think your definition of defamation - certainly in this case - is pretty wide of the mark. Clothing line..?[edit]

and why wasn't there any mention about her having a clothing line out? Trying to find out more information on it. 2601:441:4400:2450:E188:536F:FF52:A73E (talk) 12:41, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
