Critique[edit]

Oh come on, somebody can do better than this.. What is it, a copy from songfacts.com? It needs to be filled out from point-form. I'm fairly sure his birth weight is too trivial, and what does him being right-handed have to do with not having a nanny? And the picture of a scanned magazine that is torn is better than nothing, but not better enough to bother with.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tilgrieog (talkcontribs) 13:22, 18 March 2005.

Julian Lennon was abandoned by his father, John Lennon. John Lennon gloated publicly over his second son, Sean. "Imagine" being ditched by your Dad who is acknowleged as the figurehead of the Love Generation. There are lots of dead-beat dads, but not many of them are known for being the "Mr. Love", or that become world renowned for adoring their second son, or that are multi-zillionaires who won't pay to fly their first kid to visit them.

In response to your comment, I think you're right, but I just don't think that's all there is to it. He really did want peace, he just didn't know how to make it with his family. Let's not forget Yoko Ono's part to play in all of this, do you not think she had anything to do with John not seeing his son, she had a powerful hold over him, we know that at least. John Lennon, like Woody Allen, requires seperating the art from the artist.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.200.116.8 (talkcontribs) 13:22, 18 March 2005.

I agree. It's a terrible article and possible plagarized. Moncrief 21:55, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the comment about Julian being the beatles child that looks most like his father as it is widely acknowledged that this is infact George Harrisons son Dhani, who holds this 'title'. Maybe this small change will make what I agree to be a poor article a little better. (Lennon4eva 20:37, 15 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

is there any info on wheather john lennon and his ex-wife shared custody of julian?--Jessan0 03:08, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"In 1996, Julian Lennon paid £25,000 for the recording notes to "Hey Jude" at an auction." seems to contradict the statement "McCartney bought the original manuscript of "Hey Jude" in an auction and gave it to Julian as a gift.". (80.136.45.27 10:22, 2 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

"Julian has often been somewhat icy toward ... his half-brother Sean Lennon ... Julian and Sean are actually quite close." Seems to me somewhat contradictory. Jo van Valkenberg 84.153.159.217 11:47, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Salt water[edit]

Hmm, no mention of "Salt water wells in my eyes"? Dunno about the rest of the world, but it was a decent hit in Australia in the early 90s... Stevage 15:04, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, that should definetly be included here, a single on its own, and probably his greatest hit.

George Harrison contrbuted guitar riffs to that song according to the liner notes from "Behind the Music: The Julian Lennon collection." Ladydayelle 14:49, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup tag[edit]

I added a cleanup tag. It needs copyediting, particularly but not exclusively for missing spaces between words. --Anchoress 01:36, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have already started the cleanup process, copy editing and categorizing. I have also enlisted the help of a great gal that runs a fan site, heyjules.com. She's actually met Julian on a few occasions, and has a LOT of inside track stuff to contribute! With her input and our cooperative efforts, we can get this article up to par and beyond, I think!! Edit Centric 17:12, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me or does the opening paragraph kinda suck? Both the godfather mention and the concealment mention belong somewhere else in the article - the former because it's too trivial for the opening and the latter because this isn't the John Lennon article. —Wknight94 (talk) 18:10, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

Surely if Julian Lennon "runs a restaurant called Reds in Portals Nous" this should be included under "Occupation(s)" in the infobox? However, I don't know if the statement is true or not. Anybody got any sources for this? Liamshaw 16:09, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the paper today, there was an article about Julian and Sean becoming closer, it said the Julian lives in north Italy where he's working on a new album, so I really doubt the guy runs a restaurant. - Tom

He has been an INVESTOR in a couple of restaurants. I'm sure that is his only involvement in such enterprises... Davidpatrick 15:53, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Legal Battle with Yoko Ono[edit]

I'm surprised this article doesn't mention anything of Julian's legal battle with Yoko Ono to recieve some of his father's estate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.164.21.130 (talk) 16:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then why don't you put one in? :) --andreasegde 19:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA[edit]

Good grief, another article connected to The Beatles that has an almost complete lack of in-line citations. (Well, one actually, but only one.) When will this be a GA? --andreasegde 19:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Self-Promoting[edit]

I think. There should be one of those external link things (with the arrow) to go to the external link for his documentary film, rather than the non-encyclopedic "For more information, go to [etc.]" Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.140.184.123 (talk) 05:31, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Drum Playing[edit]

The article states that he played drums at age 11 (~1973) on Ya Ya, but then later states that he learned to play drums during the time he lived with Yoko and Sean at the Dakota in the 1980s. Is this contradictory, as didn't he know how to play in 1973? 165.189.169.190 (talk) 21:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error in article[edit]

The last sentence of the personal life section:

"By 2009 Lennon's feelings toward his father had mellowed and he has been quoted as having a "cordial" relationship with Yoko Ono while getting along very well with her son, and his half-brother,saying John Mower was closer to him that John Lennon Sean."

deep down John probably loved Jude. We all say things we don't mean. maybe they were friends sometimes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.116.36.189 (talk) 02:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity about Lucy[edit]

In two places there are references to Lucy, the woman that inspired Lucy in the Sky, but she is listed as Lucy O'Donnell in one place and Lucy Vodden in another. This is the same woman; O'Donnell is her maiden name. This should be addressed for clarity, but I'm not sure how exactly. Thoughts?Liarandathief (talk) 06:46, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Beatles RfC[edit]

You are invited to participate in an RfC at Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/The Beatles on the issue of capitalising the definite article when mentioning that band's name in running prose. This long-standing dispute is the subject of an open mediation case and we are requesting your help with determining the current community consensus. Thank you for your time. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds[edit]

Is a code for LSD. Come on people... Everyone knows this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.134.213.55 (talk) 01:39, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

John Lennon always denied this, and Julian remembers the drawing he innocently titled "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Furthermore, it is documented that the Lucy in question really was a classmate of Julian's. It would be very uncharactistic of John Lennon, by the way, to work in code. He was forthright (some would say blunt) to an undiplomatic fault. His song about his mother Julia is called "Julia"; his song addressed to Mia Farrow's sister Prudence is called "Dear Prudence"; and so on. For that matter, he wasn't shy about publicly confessing his drug use. TheScotch (talk) 22:07, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agreeing with TheScotch in facts (and in OR ... lolol). But also, on the other hand, what difference does it make, in context? The song is most clearly related to drug experiences, there wasn't any question at the time or since. It's not extraordinarily important, surely, that one aspect of the song was more or less overt. I have a reliable, published book reference that says the Beatles all surprised when someone pointed out the coincidence in the title. Case closed. And reclosed. And closed again. And again. Michael J Fox in a video[edit]

Can anyone recall a Julian Lennon song in which Michael J Fox appears in the video? Montalban (talk) 02:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why no "Personal Life" section?[edit]

Why is there no section on his personal life? Is he married or single? Does anybody know? (Trikita (talk) 08:40, 19 December 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Not to suggest that it's necessarily relevant, but Julian Lennon has never been married and has no children. TheScotch (talk) 10:04, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the answer TheScotch Trikita (talk) 15:49, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Julia song[edit]

It says Julian helped to inspire the song "Julia"; not so sure about that. It was really about his mother, who was killed in a car crash in 1958, and there is mention of "ocean child calls me", referring to Yoko Ono. There really is nothing in the song about his first son. No Picture?[edit]

Why the fuck doesn't he have a picture?

Correct. I have removed that bit of wrongness. Thanks for the note! Binksternet (talk) 17:51, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the F word here? This is an encyclopedia site, not an adult site. I think that word should be removed, or at the very least starred (i.e. ****) {Note to whomever: If you fix the above post, please feel free to remove this comment. Thank you.]Rricci428 (talk) 18:22, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As I said at the help desk, Wikipedia is not censored, so while it may be gratuitous use of that word, the most you can do is politely chastise the person who said it and pity them for not being able to express themselves more appropriately. Other than that, there's not really anything you can do about it. Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie | Say Shalom! 11 Tevet 5775 14:55, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Error in Years Active?[edit]

I think there is an error in Years Active. The article states:

"By the end of the year, Lennon left the music business for several years. He followed his interests in cooking, sailing, and sculpting during his leave from the music industry."

Am I right? Or am I missing something?Rricci428 (talk) 18:39, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Education at Ruthin School[edit]

I just wanted to bring to notice that Julian's education isn't mentioned in this article. I know he attended Ruthin School, but I don't have any citations to back up this claim. Would anyone want to take on the task? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.207.43 (talk) 21:00, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just what I was about to add. He appears remarkably well-educated, and I'm sure many people would be interested to know his school history. Valetude (talk) 23:25, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pic in infobox is nominated for deletion[edit]

Pic is very dubious. The same uploader tried to replace the infobox picture before and I reverted it. Just noticed that the current pic is from same uploader who claims to be Julian Lennon. The previous pic was 'stolen' from a magazine website. The source of this pic is unknown, Google image search did not provide conclusive evidence of the source. John Lennon's living will[edit]

Julian Lennon was cut out of John Lennon's inheritance will reportedly due to his drug abuse and alcoholism. This led to a court case, a family falling out, and a settlement which he was not happy about.[1] He later conciled with his family.[2]Lmharding (talk) 01:11, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
