Update[edit]

Now that 1) the needless source witchhunt is over and 2) I've come into some free time, I'm going to fix things up a bit. There's two new translated interviews with the developers (I say "new" but they date from 1995) and a wealth of other information that needs to be added. Influential[edit]

Now I'm not going to dispute the fact that Chrono Trigger was one of the most influential games in history, but the list in the article (cite reference #91) puts Super Mario Kart as THE most influential game in history, which could be called blatantly incorrect - I cannot see how Super Mario Kart could have inspired other games (except racers), and it would be wrong to just list games by how influential they are because it's impossible to see how much influence it actually had. You could say that "[person] called Chrono Trigger one of the most influential games in history" if it's from a notable source. If it's not, then remove it.--ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:20, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seems appropriate to say it's "influential" and "important", but I think it may be NPOV to say it's "one of the most influential" in history - people in different parts of the industry will see that differently, and as a subjective statement, it's very difficult to back up with sources. We can easily show that it IS an influential and important game, but I think we should leave it at that and let readers derive their own conclusions based on that and reception figures. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 16:41, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DS cart size[edit]

Where does the information that about the size of the DS cart come from? It is impossible for it to be a 128 megabit card (16Megabytes). I'm almost sure it's 128 Megabytes, but i can't find a source for it.--Jim88Argentina (talk) 04:44, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I highly doubt Chrono trigger DS could be fit into a small size. The cutscenes look uncompressed. However, if it is only 17 MB, than that's a real technical achievement. Nether the less, the original SNES data would be less that 4 MB in size due to Cartridge limits.--Olifromsolly (talk) 12:08, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good article to help suppliment plot[edit]

It's rare to have a reliable source cite plot information in this detail, but we got one for this game: from GameCareerGuide writing as educational material for budding game designers. False interview[edit]

Well, the only proof that they have in that thread is that it was from RPGSite, which "isn't a real news source, so you can't trust it". We knew that- we're citing the rpgsite original in the article. The question is- is RPGSite an RS? If not, then we should remove it; if yes, then it's fine. Looking around, I'm going to say that they're situational- if they, for example, had actually posted that full interview we might be able to use it, but there's no evidence that they are anything more than three guys trying to set up their own site- the UFF network they talk about is the Unofficial Final Fantasy network, which they also started, so that doesn't help. Their cover story is their own awards, given 2 months ago, and there's a lot of broken functionality in the site. It really feels like a glorified fansite with a nicer ui than most that's trying to be big but isn't there yet; the hobby project of three guys in college with a lot of time on their hands. Deleted sections[edit]

User:G-Zay just got banned from WP for, basically, inventing sources to cite for statements, true or false, that he put in articles. See User talk:G-Zay/Source problems for more details. His main m.o. was to use "Ultimania" sources, since they're hard to track down, to up-play and fabricate Ito's contributions to Square Enix's games, while dismissing and downplaying other contributors, mainly Toriyama and Kitase. His contributions are getting backed out unless his sources can be proved, and I'm not sure that anything that he sourced to the CT Ultimania can be trusted. Do you/does the Compendium have a translation of the interviews in the CT Ultimania? If we can get a hold of them/alternate sources, then we can re-add the bits about Ito. --PresN 19:35, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dead Links[edit]

Using the Checklinks tool, I've gone through the article and updated the broken links. A few notes:

  • Ref 8 (unfixed) is now a redirect to a page that does not contain the information relevant to the inline citation. The Wayback page for this article (on the day it was retrieved, and as far as I can tell, in general) appears to have elements that will not load and also does not contain the relevant information. A search of the website reveals that the original page is no longer searchable/does not exist.
  • Ref 57 (fixed) did not have a Wayback archive. I found the current url for the page, but it may need updating in the future.
  • Refs 66 & 98 (fixed) were redundant, now merged. they also did not have a Wayback archive. I found the current url for the page, but it may need updating in the future.
  • Ref 68 (fixed) updated with Wayback archive.
  • Ref 83 (fixed) updated with Wayback archive.
  • Ref 148 (fixed, now 147) did not have a Wayback archive. I found the current url for the page, but it may need updating in the future.
  • External Link to official page for Chrono Trigger DS (fixed) this link had the same url as reference number 8. Correct North American release date[edit]

It has come to my attention that the release date in the article was incorrect and had been for years: Chrono Trigger was released in North America on the 22nd of August 1995, not the 11th. I have found what I believe to be a reliable source attesting to this, especially considering that the long-standing source, and even its Internet Archive link, were no longer accessible.   • He put in the article- [1]; replacing [2] (despite what Julyo said, the archive link works just fine for me). I'm not sold that it's an RS- despite being hosted by a university, it appears to be a one-off amateur project by a student; no indication is made of how she got that release date, nor does Madeleine Brookman have any RS indicators on her own.
