redirect from Tallahassee[edit]

Why does the page Tallahassee redirect here and not to Tallahassee, Florida? I would have thought that the Florida capital would be more important (or at least have a Disambig page). Witty lama 05:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Burned to the ground?[edit]

I was there the morning after the fire. The hotel didn't "burn to the ground". That implies that there is nothing left and that's simply not true. The back end of the Hotel Talisi was destroyed and all the windows were broken-out, but most of the hotel was still standing. Problems with History section[edit]

There are numerous issues with the History section, which lacks any citations at all. It gives a folkloric account of the Creek Indian past, including the made-up term "White Stick" and the discredited idea that Red Stick rebels were mostly from the Upper towns. The section also assumes that the Creek town of Talisi is identical with the city of Tallassee. This is almost certainly not true, and must be proved, not just asserted. As with Tuskegee, Sylacauga, and other Alabama towns, the name of a destroyed Creek town was usually assigned to a new town established on a different site by white settlers — usually many miles from the Creek namesake. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 20:31, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
