I would like to discuss the latest article rename. I believe that "West Maui Mountains" is the prevalent English name (note the plural). "West Maui Mountains" returns 17,300 hits on Google, while "West Maui Mountain" returns only 981. I know it is awkward that the Hawaiian name is singular (Mauna), while the English name is plural. But, Wikipedia guidelines (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names)) make it clear to use the most common name. Thanks! -- hike395 04:53, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

That is a bogus use of the arguement or policy. If 10,000 people are wrong and only one person is right, that (according to you) makes it 10,000 to one so change the facts. What is correct in this or any instance is what is meant by mountains or moutain. Since there is but one mountain, telling me that Google (which is counting touristy web sites) becomes some kind of authority. No encyclopedia (or peoples, for that matter) can achieve any form of competancy following that logic - Marshman 20:13, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
