Incorrect![edit]

This line is incorrect:

Recently, the makers of Firebird asked the web browser that's now called Mozilla Firebird to change its name from "Firebird" to "Mozilla Firebird", just after it had changed its name from "Phoenix" to "Firebird". Nevertheless, Mozilla Firebird complied.

False. The branding document did not come at the request of the FirebirdSQL people. It was completely unrelated. According to Christopher Blizzard:

It wasn't, really. The branding strategy has been in the works since late last year, well before Phoenix was even on our radar. The only part of that document that was really affected by Firebird database folks was the careful use of "Mozilla Firebird" instead of just "Firebird" and the clear distinction of a "project" vs a "product". We've been talking about using "Mozilla Browser" or something similar for quite a while now.

Features[edit]

Does this thing do anything the mySQL doesn't do? Or is faster? -64.129.128.2 19:49, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that most RDBMSes do more things than MySQL does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.173.172.228 (talk) 15:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW: Yes. Yes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.36.44.247 (talk) 13:51, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Features and too many external links[edit]

Hi, will we see a list of features at anytime? Also, I think there are far too many external links compared to other wikipedia articles. I will try to fix these when I have time --DFRussia 14:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I edited this page today and removed a bunch. The ones that remain are IMO appropriate. Yes, a feature list is sorely missed. If someone has time for that...

Firebird application[edit]

This seems to be just plain promotion of the linked-to company, which does not even mention Firebird in its "about" page, so I think it should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.238.217.133 (talk) 11:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A typographical error ?[edit]

In the paragraph about indexes (indicies ?) it says 'well-turned' I assume this was meant to actually say 'well-tuned' ? I'm no expert on databases (nor wikipedia) at all so I will leave it up to someone else more knowledgible to make the change. I hope it helps. Wishing you all the best ! Bernie

Yep, I'd guess that's the case on both counts. Be bold; feel free to make edits yourself, too! ;) ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 18:53, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, reading in context, "indexes" is the correct term for database indexing. But I fixed the other one. ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 19:06, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
