More Vladimir Smirnovs...[edit]

Eventually this page may need to be disambiguated. There are two three other Soviet/Russians named Vladimir Smirnov that appear on the web:

  1. A mathematician (10 June, 1887February 11, 1974)
  2. A mountain climber (d. 1999 in Mexico)
  3. A cross-country skier (b. 7 March, 1964)

(3rd Smirnov added by --Wernher 22:10, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC), who will now proceed with the dab work)

Very informal language...[edit]

I feel surprised by the very informal language used in this article ("..the plug was pulled..") and feel that the interpretation of events guiding the decision to discontinue life support is hit and miss at best ("..because noone wanted him to die during the championship.."). I think this should be mended by someone more in the know about what really happened and with a more objective outlook on these tragic events.

Actually, the line about no one wanting him to die during the championships is correct...confirmed by Dan DeChaine at armorers college this last August (2005).

Pulling the plug may be informal, but it's basically correct, as Smirnov was essentially dead when they took him off the strip.

Links with French[edit]

I'm not sure how to fix this, but there is a page on Smirnov in the French wikipedia, but it's not linked. The French version has an extra 't' (victorovich is victorovitch). But they should be linked. 116.80.232.125 (talk) 13:44, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
