Troikas[edit]

The "background" paragraph is a bit of a grammatical mess, I think. For one thing, the English phrases in quotes contain the word "troikas" which is supposedly plural (english pluralization of a foreign word? not going to even go there), but according to my understanding of the language, the Russian phrases are singular. I don't trust my limited knowledge enough to pluralise them myself, and I also can't figure out an easy way to change the way the sentences work to make the 'English' words singular. And then, the word "troika" is used in the middle of a sentence ("Gradually troika were introduced in...") as though it is plural. That's a bit wrong, and that sentence is a bit confusing as well. I'm only making one change, fixing the comma-separated list at the end. Someone might want to rewrite this paragraph entirely, or otherwise change it somehow. 198.82.59.127 21:53, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Section: Secret Order № 00447 — the "Kulak Operations"[edit]

There's a sentence "While Order 00447 decreed the personal constitution of all troikas, in the course of the Purge many members of troikas were repressed themselves, so the staff of troikas varied over time.[5]", that feels to me a bit odd, because of the word "repressed". I am afraid that the troika-members being "repressed" is not clear enough. Repression can mean many things, while the context of the stalinist Purge suggests that in this case repression means being accused in the same kind of trials (that the troikas were themselves performing) and sent to GULAG or executed. Now the source No5 contains this sentence: " Но все же чаще члены троек сами становились жертвами репрессий." which could be the model of the discussed sentence of the article (though there's a subtle difference in it saying "however members of the troikas often became themselves VICTIMS of the repression"), by addition of the word "victim" it doesn't leave so much uncertainity of the (typical) nature of said repression. So my suggession is to tackle the sentence in the article to include either "members of troikas became victims of the repression themselves", or "members of troikas were purged themselves" or something similar.
