What this noticeboard is:
- It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
- It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
- It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
- It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
- It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
- Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
- Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
- Sign and date your posts with four tildes "
~~~~".
- If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

In order to determine whether the UltraViolet article should have a POV tag, or whether it should not, I filed for dispute resolution. Another issue to be discussed is whether the substantial source you gave and wrote would help to resolve the POV issue, or make it worse, if such an issue is deemed to exist. - Yes, you were looking in the wrong place.. in fact, I filed it in the wrong place (it shouldn't have been a dispute resolution, but something else). One of my concerns was whether I can use a source which was generated completely by someone deeply involved in the system (related to WP:SELFCITE), and whether that could make the POV even worse. I'll do it anyway, later, when I have time (probably next week Sunday or so). If someone else sees harm, then it will be raised. - Whether or not someone has intimate knowledge of a topic is not germane to POV. You're correct that WP:SELFCITE would be an issue, which is exactly why I suggested that you or someone else were free to borrow/quote criticism from my FAQ, since that would then be a reference from someone other than the author. You might consider that I have contributed to the Wikipedia article about DVD, and I have written four books and the online FAQ about DVD, which are referenced by the Wikipedia article, but no one seems concerned that my contributions are suspect or a "shill" for anyone because of my long involvement with the companies that created the DVD format. - Yeah, I thought about what you wrote in the UV article talk page, and considering you're not exactly a PR organiser, but an intimate developer in the system (also, its related systems, and probably any future (and therefore better and more refined) system that comes from the same sources), there is less reason to deny your contributions regarding the subject. - Thanks for the note about dvddemystified.com. I went to the URL and it said it was parked (which is bizarre, since it has been up and running for 16 years!). Then I went to GoDaddy and checked DNS info, which was correct. Then I went to dvddemystified.com again and the site showed up. I guess just opening up my GoDaddy account fixed some bug on their side. JimTheFrog (talk) 02:49, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
