Here's the scoop. From the quote of St. Basil, it's obvious that the reference is to a doctrine of Eastern Orthodoxy. However, the original version seems to only consult a somewhat "fuzzy-wuzzy" book (A History of God), that is not a work of Orthodox theology but is a very modern "cook's tour" theological work, that jumbles together a big mash of stuff. I hope I've cleaned up the article sufficiently, although it's still a somewhat specialized topic. Dogface

I think that the article (Energies of God) needs to be discarded. The correct terminology for this Eastern Orthodox precept is the Essence Energies Distinction. Its fundamental principal, one that is ignored in this article, is that there is no real distinction in God but rather, for the sake of theological argument an artificial line is drawn between God's Essence and his Energies. The other article does an adequate job of correctly presenting the concept while this one definitely leaves something to be desired. Delete this article in favor of the other.Phiddipus 22:30, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
