Looping Links[edit]

Care needs to be taken not to loop your links - ie links pointing to the page they are on. Many of the FMA pages have Filipino Martial Arts - FMA: FilipinoMartialArts.com added to them which is just a directy goes to Filipino martial arts. What's the point.Peter Rehse 03:12, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rating[edit]

I've popped the article back down to Start class for a few reasons . If someone pops it back again to B I wont touch it but I do think the rating should reflect the article rather than pride in ones work. Please take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Martial_Arts/Assessment and note that the higher you go up the scale the more removed you should be from the work in question. If you are doing most of the edits a change form Stub to Start is ok, Start to B gets dicey and B to GA is a definate no no. It also helps to take a look and compare this article with Category:B-Class_Martial_arts_articles. Escrima is definately a B-class and Chinese martial arts is a good example of a B-class article that Filipino martial arts, being a general martial art style article, could try to emulate. Basically if you remove the large number of lists with little information in their own right there is not much substance in this article. There is only one sources and you need to get rid of enbedded internal links. We need a few more picis showing martial arts. The map is good - but the article does not reference it. Which martial arts come from which islands for instance. The take home point is that there is so much good information that is missing - the article has great potential. A start class draws attention to that point. Hope this helps rather than hinders.Peter Rehse 06:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

class=Start is absolutely right. this article needs massive cleanup. 211.110.55.63 (talk) 09:50, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main image[edit]

I prefer the current image, with rattan sticks, and training blades, to the triangle. I'm also not suer everyone would agree with the description of "metaphysical" properties. The current one is pretty simple too, though--an action shot might be better? JJL (talk) 14:19, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What we need, is a much better image. The current one gives the bad artless vibe in it. There should be pictures of Kampilan/Talibong and rataan stick use--70.134.64.183 (talk) 06:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

why call the section on magic "esoteric"?[edit]

Esoteric means known only by a few, perhaps a select few. many forms of magic are esoteric, of course, but surely not all esoteric knowledge has to do with the supernatural. ninjistu is, or was in the past, an example of an esoteric martial art, because only a few knew it and they were careful to keep the secret among their families and, perhaps, a few outsiders. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.19.63.222 (talk) 00:54, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
