The Alaknanda, as far as I remember, is a river first and a story later. Can we please keep this a factual article ? Amar 06:10, Feb 12, 2005 (UTC)

Oppose Even if no ambiguous page exists, is the name unadorned the common name in English for these rivers? It doesn't matter if nothing else is at the base title if "XYZ River" is still the best title. Maybe best for a full RM? Snowfire (talk) 01:09, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose There are many bigger rivers in South Asia, Indus River, Brahmaputra River, Godavari River, Narmada River that don't necessarily have disambiguation issues. Besides, the Alaknanda is not such a well-known river; the river appelation is helpful. As I've stated at the Bhagirathi renaming page, I have written the leads of both the pages, drawn the maps of their courses, taken the pictures. I have a pretty good sense of what these rivers are called in encylopedias. A nonstarter, requiring a speedy close. Fowler&fowler «Talk» 03:51, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
