Untitled[edit]

Yes, a lot of his stuff is in Saltram House; he is in fact a proper Janner. I'll fill this out a bit when I get the mood (I much prefer stuff like the Newlyn School). sjc

so do I. I find the 18th century portrait a pretty tiresome subject. But if i can exploit localist sentiment to avoid doing work, well, go ahead! --MichaelTinkler

I've Actually Been Told That Im Related to Joshua Reynolds But i do not know Anything About him ,If anyone knows anything else can u tell me! xx (JustMe) Nice try, Michael. Surely someone out there must like Reynolds? sjc

Sorry, I think I may have messed things up in moving everything from "Sir Joshua Reynolds" to "Joshua Reynolds", since there was stuff in the history and Talk page of the former. See:-

comments[edit]

Why does this article start off calling him the most important painter? Isn't that an opinion?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Arctic sunrise (talkcontribs) 10:46, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should be referenced, but it would be easy to do so. Johnbod (talk) 13:20, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was Sir William Chambers who jointly with Reynolds jointly founded the Royal Academy not Gainsborough. It was agreed that Reynolds as an artist would be a more suitable first President than William Chambers, who was an architect. Chambers who was a good friend of George 111 became the first Treasurer and remained in that office almost until his death in 1796. Expanding the article[edit]

This article is a bit of a mess and I believe Sir Joshua deserves a better article than this. However the abundance of unsourced text makes it difficult to add to. I think a lot of it should be deleted and replaced with sourced information. References should not be hard to find.--Britannicus (talk) 14:45, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article seems to lean heavily in tone on the late 19th c. history/biography. I think it should be cleaned up to remove some of the detail and worked on for tone.Parkwells (talk) 20:48, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Both of you please feel free to go ahead! Johnbod (talk) 21:37, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

George Montagu-Dunk[edit]

The painting of George Montagu-Dunk - this reproduction has a pale-greenish shade, compared with the others. Is it possible to remove it and replace with something different? Plenty of good pictures on commons. Lady Frances Finch; James 7th Earl of Lauderdale; Miss Mary Hickey; Lady Sondes; Master Bunbury Hafspajen (talk) 21:02, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, wait a little more and than change it. Hafspajen (talk) 18:46, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
