Re: THANK YOU[edit]

I cant than you enough for putting up a photo of SIES High school in Wikipedia. You may have gather a lot of SIES Wikipedians to compile and full feature article about the SIES group of Institutions.

Nattu 23:36, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Thank you for your appreciation. Are you from SIES too? I have done my schooling from SIES HS, Matunga (Jr. K.G. to 10th std.), and passed 10th in March 1990...so I thought there should be something about SIES on wikipedia. However, I have not been particularly successful in getting in touch with any SIES ex-students, let alone SIES wikipedians :-(...

Regarding copyrights[edit]

Hey there. I noticed that a couple of your articles were imported from other sources, and have had to remove them. If you own their copyrights, please say so on their respective talk pages and on Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Whether these are in violation of copyright or not, we welcome your further contributions. Thanks! - Vague | Rant 01:59, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)

That's great, I'm glad you want to contribute to the Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on Expasy or Ensembl, but you're welcome to write some yourself! Anyway, I'm glad to have you aboard. - Vague | Rant 06:02, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)
Hmm, which sort of links do you mean? Internal, or external? I'll explain both:
"[[Article]]" creates an internal link to "Article", which looks like "Article".
"[http://www.google.com/ Google]" creates an external link to "Google", which looks like "Google".
I hope that helps. - Vague | Rant 10:23, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)

Image removal of GN Ramachandran: pl clarify[edit]

I have cited the source while uploading the image

Nattu 16:34, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is in regards to image Image:GN Ramachandran.jpg which was deleted. The reason for deletion was that the copyright tag was {{magazinecover}}, but the image was probably not a magazine cover. That tag is a fair use tag and has very specific copyright requirements. Fair use images are not freely licensed, so we can't use them in any way we want, but only in very specific ways as laid out in copyright law. For an example of a magazine cover image used correctly see Allure (magazine). In that case the image is a cover, and the image is being used as an example of the content of the article. We can talk about magazines, but we can't re-purpose their photography without their licensing the work to us. If you have any questions about that let me know. The fair use article is fairly informative also. - cohesion 16:51, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Featured articles[edit]

I suspect you have confused featured article review (where you nominated that article - it's strictly for looking over current featured articles) with wikipedia:featured article candidates (which is where potential featured articles are nominated) Raul654 04:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I had a look at the article sequence profiling tool that you nominated as a featured article candidate, and fixed some of the wiki syntax/did a little copyediting at the beginning. However, if you're interested in seeing a bioinformatics-related featured article, I might suggest working on expanding something that is a broader/"bigger" topic from a non-specialist's perspective, like sequence alignment. The profiling article is useful but there probably just isn't enough information of interest to non-specialists to expand it to the typical featured-article length and style. Opabinia regalis 05:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dr. Ganesan,

You had questioned whether the list above is of encyclopediac nature. I suppose all aspects of a culture whether high or low can be enclopediac in nature as long as it meets the criteria established for this project. Tamil being a conservative and diglossic language, the natural reaction of native speakers is to look down upon such documentation, but in reality this is how a language flows. RaveenS 16:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I brought up the question of whether Sequence profiling tool is a neologism on the talk page. I figured you might want to know about this as the original creator of the article. You are welcome to respond there if you like. Grouse 08:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nattu. Recently you added a comment at WP:WQA about ChemSpider. The citation by PubChem is certainly worth adding to the article. Please note that a debate about keeping this article is also taking place at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/ChemSpider. EdJohnston 19:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also noticed your comment. The page where you entered your note is an informal page that does not directly affect the outcome of the deletion debate, so to be counted, you need to enter your comment on the formal procedure page, at the link EdJohnston provided: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/ChemSpider. Thanks. --Parzival418 Hello 21:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Nattu. Please note that, when you add a comment to an existing discussion, it is normal to add it at the bottom. Other editors may not even see your comment if you place it at the top. EdJohnston 00:07, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:NCBI.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NCBI.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:28, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:HPRD.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:HPRD.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:14, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited SIES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hariharan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Non-free rationale for File:SEQUEROME display.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SEQUEROME display.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thanks[edit]

I do not login often and noticed this message only recently. I will check back often and see when I can be a part of the process of voting. Also I would be glad to considered in the committee as a domain expert in my areas of expertise.
