Untitled[edit]

There is an important difference between hardcore and hardcore punk. Most of these bands, if not all are hardcore, though there is of course a large over lap (especially since the terms aren't exactly defined perfectly). For example, the Dead Kennedys would probably be defined as both Hardcore and Hardcore Punk, while Gorrilla Biscuits or Charles Bronson would not be described as Hardcore Punk by anyone within the Hardcore community.

It's a hard distinction to nail exactly, but hardcore was louder, faster, younger and without a lot of the perceived "arty pretensions" of punk, while still maintaining it's free spirit.

Why both have a list of "hardcore punk groups" and "hardcore punk bands"? What's the difference?

I agree with the above. However, I don't even think this should exist. It should be an article/forum attempting to explain whatever this category could possibly be, not a list of stupid emohairscream bands. Go ahead and direct people to this discussion, I have a feeling this is going to keep going. For example, comment #2 I think you're on the right path. Think punk. Subway Sect, Ramones, New York Dolls, the Weirdos, the Stranglers etc. Advance a few years and make it more extreme all around. The dress, the politics, the beat, the words. It's punk on pcp.

Enter shikari are hardcore punk now? I think not. More like screamo meets dance/trance.

At what point, if ever, were AFI a hardcore punk band? If there are no objections, I'll remove the link.--Mcr hxc 16:25, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know anything about AFI. I think i will put them back in and do your research before thinking their career started at decemberunderground. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.176.133.198 (talk) 20:32, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So many of the late 80s hardcore bands are also missing here. Such as Libido Boyz, Majority of One, Straight Ahead etc....

There are also several important British Hardcore bands missing such as Jailcell Recipies, Visions of Change, Heresy, Concrete Sox.

Dead Kennedys hardcore? Ha. I disagree. I don't like the fact that the article calls bands like Hatebreed and Biohazzard "metalcore" that is the biggest load of crap, if I may say so my self. The metalcore genre contains bands like Unearth and Chimaira. True (just) Hardcore (not punk) consists of bands like Hatebreed, Throwdown, Biohazzard (even though the wikipedia article on Biohazzard claims that the band never claimed to be hardcore, in many of their songs, they call themselves the fathers of hardcore [look on the CD urban discipline]). Hardcore Punk, as it is called, was the "Hardcore" of the 1980's which consisted of punks who wanted a harder sound. Speed Metal, should not be confused with hardcore, at least in this day and age. Too many bands categorize themselves incorrectly (see: underoath and "fall out boy," both which claim to be "hardcore" [ at least underoath is close, although they are screemo, the other is power-pop]). It is a big frustration among "true" "diehard" fans of this decade.

Choking Victim[edit]

Really? not hardcore punk at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orgyofthedamned (talkcontribs) 06:34, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding categories?[edit]

How does one create a new category? We have "american hardcore bands" and a few others but I want to add an Irish Hardcore section.

thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bombidol (talkcontribs) 14:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dying Fetus[edit]

How about Dying Fetus? Because they got Hardcore Punk influenced in their songs? Don't they? User:Panicpack121 22 September, 2009. 22:34
