Changes to Government and Politics section[edit]

We are not going to revisit this again. Nope. Wikipedia is NOT a political battleground, and election results are a matter of public record, no matter which way they turn out. You cannot simply remove information from an article because it is not favorable to one party or another. Instead, rewording is a better option in this case, as I have done in the article.

This has happened before, back in August of 2008. The same kind of politics-based edit warring was going on, with some biting comments included in the edit descriptors. ("LEAVE MY EDITS ALONE." (Wikipedia is not Chris Crocker!), "It is currently being edited by a fervent REPPUBLICAN who refuses to let the DEMOCRATS have a voice.") Again, Wikipedia is NOT the place for either Reps or Dems to seek a "voice". Rivendweller, as you are one of our newer editors, I suggest you see Wikipedia policies at Wikipedia is not a soapbox, and Wikipedia is not a battleground. Rivendweller, what I would suggest is, instead of REMOVING information to make the section lean more towards a certain direction, you WORK THE ARTICLE; gather MORE information about the recent swing in the voting and registration trends! ADD information, and BUILD the section. To simply say; "We're gonna remove some info to make it look more or less favorable to one side or the other" is to deny access to that removed information. That is neither constructive, nor is it appropriate for Wikipedia. Give the reader ALL the information, let THEM draw their own conclusions. By ALL the information, I also mean information that can be added to document any change in the voting demographics from point A towards center, or even past center towards point B! Yes. It's nearly always bad to remove information from Wikipedia, unless it's flatly incorrect or wrong or slanderous. If its presense unblanaces something, leave it, and figure out how to balance it. But removing good stuff denies other access to it, as has been noted. Rollback on 2009 02 04[edit]

8th Senate District[edit]

Calaveras County is not in the 8th Senate District. If you click on that link, it shows that the 8th Senate District represent parts of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, but comes nowhere close to Calaveras County. RNealK (talk) 04:47, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Non-native, non-black" is totally unspecific and an poorly veiled attempt at political correctness. This is an encyclopedia, not a social justice blog. Fix it.

Sheriffs[edit]

According to the article, Alexander Hunter recently began his 161st year as county sheriff. It might be desirable for someone to do something about updating that. Rick DiBasilio is the current (2019) one, according to the county website. He took office in May 2016 following the death of Gary Kuntz, according to an archived 2018 Union-Democrat article ((https://www.uniondemocrat.com/localnews/6291667-151/calaveras-county-sheriff-election-likely-to-head-to)) David Downum held the position on the 2008 WayBack page that rather quaintly serves as the article reference for the Board of Supervisors.

I apologize, but I don't have time to research this any further; I only followed up to the extent I did because the Hunter reference showing no end date for his tenure seemed ludicrous.Ajericn (talk) 00:51, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
