Two things. Four years of Latin (admittedly 40+ years ago) taught me to beware of the present participle. 'I am thinking, therefore I am' makes far more sense to me in the context of the translation of the present tense; thought = existence.

Second, We are thinking Latin to English; what does the Latin mean to a French linguist?
