No. Ray Ferry and Forrest J Ackerman were in 'partnership' during the relaunch of FM in '93.

Ackerman left the magazine in dispute with Mr.Ferry and is no longer associated with the 'new' publication.

-Some strange editing going on here. Someone is trying to delete any/all mention of Forrest J. Ackerman from this article. Every sane person agrees that Ackerman was the heart and soul of FM for two decades. Is this an encyclopedic article about an influential magazine and its famous editor? Or is this a pro-Ray Ferry fan page? (Is Ray Ferry himself making the edits?)HorsePants 21:10, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! That's crazy! Removing Forrest J. Ackerman from FM's history would be like writing an article on "Playboy" sans any mention of Hugh Hefner. I'm glad you reverted the article back to its earlier version, but I still think it had some problems. Specifically, the last paragraph devoted way too much space (I think) to Ackerman's successful libel suit against Ferry, so I've edited it down to about half its former length. I also removed some disparaging comments about the new FM; while arguably true, the comments did not conform to Wikipedia's NPOV policy.Hal Raglan 05:53, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

-Once again this article has been vandalized by the same user (24.158.177.25) who keeps adding deliberately misleading information into the text. Look at this poster's history and you'll see that he/she has a habit of denigrating (or completely removing) Ackerman's role in FM, while at the same time glorifying Ray Ferry as if he's some kind of saint. Incredibly, at one point this same poster requested page protection for his vandalism! One of the previous comments above indicated that it was possibly Ray Ferry himself making these changes. Of course, there's probably no way to prove this claim, but who else would be nutty enough to keep making the same frankly lunatic changes to this article?200.122.158.40 20:32, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The "anonymous" contributor 24.158.177.25 continues to vandalise this article repeatedly. He has even attempted to completely delete the article several times. I will report this abuse to the administrators to see if he can be blocked from further vandalism. (Check out his history...Amusingly, in one of his bizarre "rewrites" of the article, he actually listed Ray Ferry's email address as a POC for information...not so "anonymous" after all, eh?) 200.122.158.40 21:07, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The latter site seems to redirect to the former. It's operated by Philip Kim, who purchased the "Famous Monsters" trademark for $25,000 at a bankruptcy sale in 2007. "Libel lawsuit" reference addition[edit]

On 23 March 2010, Zombie433 added a citation to the "Libel lawsuit" section. The reference links to a Dread Central article of 23 March 2010 regarding the imminent publication of a new print version of Famous Monsters. While the link is informative (and this Wiki article is in dire need of references), it doesn't relate to the section in which it appears. A new section about the 2007 aquisition of the FM trademark and the activities of its owner-- including the magazine's 2010 revival-- seems to be needed. Worrying edits[edit]

A series of edits from 10 February 2011 here are worrying as they were by IP 173.196.186.131 (talk · contribs) (with almost no other edits), had no edit summaries, blanked a section and removed about 8% of the article. 220 of Borg 10:45, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

including Monster World in the issue count[edit]

This is just for the information of those who might be interested.

The idea of Famous Monsters of Filmland including the 10 issues of its sister publication Monster World in its number count to get to 100 sooner might sound like cheating, but it’s actually quite justified. At the time Famous Monsters was bi-monthly, and Monster World was published the month Famous Monsters wasn’t.

In fact, in the first issue of Monster World (Nov 1964) they said this: “...for all practical purposes, FAMOUS MONSTERS and our brand new companion, MONSTER WORLD, are one and the same! Same editor...same publisher...same staff...same great stuff! You asked for FAMOUS MONSTERS 12 times a year -- it’s here. One month FM, 4 weeks later, MW. Like -- wow!”

The real question is why not simply make Famous Monsters monthly, instead of putting out 2 different alternating publications? 74.104.189.176 (talk) 01:23, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
