Historical Maps of China[edit]

I'm a big fan of your historical maps, is there anywhere I can see them all on the same page, or as a list? optimistic-x (talk) 05:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Azumi_Kawashima_as_Schoolgirl.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Azumi_Kawashima_as_Schoolgirl.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 15:16, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

naming issue[edit]

Hi,Yeu Ninje.for your chinese historic maps such as Image:Qin empire 210 BCE.png,I am a little confused about the difference between your chinese wikipedia version and englishi wikipedia version.for the shadow area,in the chinese wikipedia, you have refered it as urbanized area(城市化范围),while in the english wikipedia, you refered it as sinitic civilization(中国文明).Does it mean the sinitic civilization equals urbanized area?--Ksyrie 09:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Ksyrie. For the purposes of the maps, I equated the extent for urbanisation with the extent of sinitic civilisation. On such a large scale as that used in the maps, there is correlation between urbanisation and sinitic civilisation. Where Chinese towns and cities existed (as recorded in the Standard Histories), they were also accompanied by Chinese culture and administrative structures. The political and social influence of these centres extended out to the villages and estates of surrounding areas, which were subject to at least some form of taxation. We can also suppose that since local administrators had the authority to independently raise troops, urban areas were also centres of Chinese military power. For these reasons, urbanisation is the best proxy for sinitic or Chinese civilisation in ancient times at least. Yeu Ninje 07:08, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So,in this sense, the rural region in the heartland of central china isn't regarded as sinic civilization? And do you get any historian sources to state the rural regions having the independant troops?--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 19:10, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review for Song Dynasty[edit]

Hello, I've recently put a lot of work into the Song Dynasty article, and I was wondering if you had the time to give a little peer review, providing suggestions, advice, opinions, etc. I'm shooting for featured article status, and it is very close in my opinion to reaching it.

Financial system[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Financial system, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Something about the Image:Han Civilisation.png[edit]

The Great Wall was translated north from the actual line.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 19:11, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, what do you mean by "translated"? Yeu Ninje 23:33, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Great Wall was moved north from their actual line. Some part was strteched to the Mongolia, where there's no or little Great Wall actually.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 03:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, true. As I explain in the notes, the reconstruction of the location of the wall is from Zhongguo lishi ditu ji, a source which is widely used by sinologists. Yeu Ninje 03:57, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Check the same image of your work Image:Qin empire 210 BCE.png and Image:Han foreign relations.jpg, which are also from the Zhongguo lishi ditu ji,The Great Wall rest in their own place.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 04:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the way it is in the Zhongguo lishi ditu ji. The Great Wall was a less permanent structure than what it is today. Yeu Ninje 05:03, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No,it's not true,the Wall can't move it itself.It's a mistake of map making.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 06:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not suggesting the wall moved itself. Yeu Ninje 08:53, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So something goes wrong about the map, just compare the
and
File:Han foreign relations.jpg
which all were made by you from the Zhongguo Lishi Dituji, and the Wall got two different position,The left is wholy moved north from another.--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 12:54, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Map??[edit]

Peace be upon you (Assalam Alaykom)...

im really facinated by your creations of Maps in the Chinese Dynasties, and the Accuracy... in most maps..

but eventho, your maps are Professionaly made, dont you thnk that it would be easier for the reader to reach for easier maps, that would not confuse him, maps that have blank colors to make visual contrast of the Area controlled by the certain Dynasty...

i just have several comments on your maps, as a reader on Chinese History, (which i assure you i have little knowledge about, coming from the Arab World, and half way around the globe and stuff) anyways, i think some maps needs to have City Names, and Capital be more clear, and others need to have less information, since they get more distracting, such as Roads, crossed with rivers that are not clear from the mountain's shadows...

i made some Chinese Maps just for fun, im not really thinking of posting them or anything... i uploaded them to Wikipedia...

here-> [1]

please check them out, and tell me what you think, and if i need to regulate anything, of my maps, an my opinion...

Peace be with you (Ma' Assalamah) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arab League (talkcontribs) 00:07, August 30, 2007 (UTC)

chinese history maps=[edit]

I believe many of your maps make Chinese domains smaller. You tend to plot isolated dots on certain areas. What are your maps based on? I think they may be inaccurate because they disagree with almost all history textbooks I read. This is true for the maps of Warring states, Han dynasty and Qin dynasty. I haven't seen the others in later periods. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.80.108 (talk) 06:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions regarding your maps[edit]

Hello there, I'm interested in the great maps you've made. Why do many of the maps have "blank" spaces in the territories of various nations? ie. The color of the nation's territory would be in brown, but there are numerous "blank" grey patches and spots within the territory. This makes the map confusing to read. What does it represent? WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum[edit]

Hi Yeu Ninje,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

FP delist nom[edit]

Just so you know, I've nominated File:Han Civilisation.png for delist. Feel free to leave a comment. upstateNYer 22:07, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Chushingura.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Yeu Ninje! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 951 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

A tag has been placed on File:Watsons Bay West.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [2], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Replaceable fair use File:Shi Jiuyong.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shi Jiuyong.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. File permission problem with File:Public hearing at the ICJ.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Public hearing at the ICJ.jpg, which you've attributed to https://web.archive.org/web/20060530091757/http://www.icj-cij.org/60/photo/photo_807.htm. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:32, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
