Elevation and other claims[edit]

In case anyone else is thinking of editing the summit elevation, the article shows the elevation which is published on the most current USGS quadrangle, which is 1760 meters, or 5774 feet. My edition of the AMC White Mountain Guide, however, lists the elevation as 5799 feet, which is close to the elevation of 5798 feet listed on the older (1938) USGS 15-minute quadrangle. Thanks. I was wondering about that. Incidentally, I've never heard the Adams group of summits referred to as the "Adams family"--it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that some people do call it that, but I've spent many years in and about the Whites without hearing that term. Hello - the most recent and standing official topographical survey is the NED (National Elevation Dataset) quad taken April 1st, 2001 by LIDAR. I am not going to cite that data in the article since it is a temporary data-extraction file, but once that file expires you can go in yourself and extract the same elevation data. I will now update the article to reflect the most recent elevation given by the NED at 1765.81m - this is converted to 5793.34ft using proper significant figure procedure, and I will therefore use a final value of 5793ft in the article. For reference, I've uploaded the metadata of the NED dataset elsewhere (a place that will not expire as fast as above) in case anyone questions this edit: http://pastebin.com/dqJ0TVw2

Adams family/Aetherians[edit]

I also don't know that we should be including information about the Aetherians' holy scriptures, even with the preface "Rumor has it," unless that rumor is mentioned in some verifiable source.
