Some tips for Wikipedia usage, inspired by your edit to Poison Ivy:

  1. Disambiguation terms on article names go in parentheses - i.e. "Poison Ivy (The Cramps)", not "Poison Ivy Cramps". Also, disambiguation terms should not be any more specific than necessary - e.g. "Poison Ivy (singer)" would be sufficient unless there's more than one singer called Poison Ivy, in which case "Poison Ivy (The Cramps)" might become necessary.

  2. If you want to create a disambiguation page at a particular title, e.g. "Poison Ivy", and there is already an article there about one meaning of the term, move that article to its new title first, don't just write over it.

  3. If a page needs to be renamed (i.e. moved to a new name), e.g. from "Poison Ivy" to "Poison Ivy (The Cramps)", it is not correct to just copy and paste the current version of the text. The correct method is to use the Move this page option in the sidebar menu, which moves the entire article, including a bunch of important meta information like the edit history. That way people who visit the article at its new location will still be able to see who actually wrote it, instead of getting the false impression that it was all written by whoever moved it.

Hope this helps. —Paul A 02:34, 12 Sep 2003 (UTC)
