The river ouse is a river in the county of west and east sussex in england.The river passes through lewes and the southdowns and joins the english channel at nehaven,east sussex.


The auther virginia wolf drowned herself in the river ouse in 1941,near the village rodmell.

In the summer they have a river ouse rafed race,it starts in lewes and ends in newhaven harbour.Also people throw eggs,flour,seaweed and water.

The river ouse was named after a french name the "riviere de lewes".the river was origibnally called the river mid-wynd.

in 2001 the river flooded,placing areas of the river towns lewes and ukfield under water.The nature of the sediment in high-flow areas is absent with the exeption of the denton island area!

in 1724 records show that small boats used a tributary stream to the powder mills and forge at marsfield,just above short bridge.
