Caution (Spelling)[edit]

Her surname is misspelled. The incorrect form probably comes from Hebrew press that mangled rare Yiddish family name by writing it with two letters 'bet' in succession instead of 'beys'+'komets-alef'+'tsvey vovn' ; TV announcers trying to read already incorrect Hebrew spelling and careless journalists mimicking this double mistake. Not everybody was careless - you can check with Google.

The correct form should be Trembovler.

It comes from the Yiddish word 'trembovler' meaning the inhabitant of Trembowla (Polish spelling) or Трембовля (former Cyrillic spelling, now this town is called Теребовля in Ukrainian). I suggest this page should be either renamed or deleted.

  • I inserted your spelling version as well. Articles are not "deleted" because of variances in spelling non-English words (which is common). Often, a few versions of a name can be given, see Ivan Chernyakhovsky (Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky, (Cherniakhovsky)). By the way, could you explain to the audience what "tsvey vovn" are...:-) Also why dont you sign your NAME, like so ~~~~ Zai mir gezunt (Which means "Be well" in Yiddish for those of you who may not know :-)!IZAK 04:50, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
