Old talk[edit]

Why does the article title refer to him as Fedor, and the article as Feodor? Which is right?--Lucky13pjn 08:00, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)

  • Well, this is a question of phonetics. In Russian, the name is Фёдор (Fyodor, or Feodor, because the Russian letter ё is pronounced as in the word yearn). If one chooses to write Fedor (as in the name of the article), that the e letter will be pronounced as in feather, which is not correct. I even see articles about Russian folks with Theodore in them.
