Copyright problems[edit]

Hi there - I have listed three articles that you created as copyright violations. If they are not re-written within a week, they will be considered for deletion per Wikipedia's policies. You may be interested to take a look at Wikipedia's stance on copyrighted content to familiarize yourself with what is suitable for submission to Wikipedia, and what is not. The three articles in question are: George Gault, Joseph W. Carey, and William Conor. I hope you'll have the time and motivation to look at these articles again, and hopefully rewrite their content in your own words. You clearly have an interest in (and knowledge of) these people, so your knowledge can be put to good use! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia - cheers. --PeruvianLlama(spit) 18:47, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as George Gault, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.whiteimage.com/artists/biographies/36.htm, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), you can comment to that effect on Talk:George Gault. Then you should do one of the following:

  • Make a note on the original website that re-use is permitted under the GFDL and state at Talk:George Gault where we can find that note; or
  • Send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:George Gault.

It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! -- ReyBrujo 19:13, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated insertion of links to whiteimage.com[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Guliolopez 18:39, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article William H. Burns has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No proven notability per WP:ARTIST.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JaGatalk 02:32, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article George Henry Smyth has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence provided of any notability and the one claim, of being "one of Ireland's most sought after artists" is unproven. I can't find any reliable coverage online to prove this alleged artist is notable or suitable for a Wikipedia entry. Time for it to go, fails WP:GNG andWP:NARTIST.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
