POV removal[edit]

Changed "as the band progressed in style and maturity" to "as the band changed in style and maturity" - the phrasing is pretty bad now (I'll fix it later), but it's better than the POV "progressed". I wouldn't complain about "progressed" if I didn't disagree - in my opinion, TWSMG was the height of the Who's style, before Townshend was allowed to reign unchallenged and unchecked. If I were a POV pusher, I'd switch "progressed" to "declined", but I'm not, so we'll have to go with "changed". Bobby P. Smith Sr. Jr. 21:45, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So where did the cover go?[edit]

I posted the cover of this album some time ago, scanned it four tines and them joined the four together - took a lot of work, copyrighted it as an album cover, and now it is gone. What gives? Carptrash 04:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do they stutter in the song?[edit]

That's the story that's been told. It's also been said that it was cold in the studio. Who knows what was the reason at the time? I suspect that Daltrey just thought it sounded good and all the rest is post facto. BTLizard (talk) 16:59, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I personally, do not see any relevence of inclduing the fact of the vocal styling of "stuttering" in this article. Unless The Who or a The Who representative explicity states the reasons for doing so; we really do not know. Because 'blocked' people stuttered. However my post is because My Generation (the single) did not reach no. 1 in the UK Singles Chart. Should have done, but it didn't. Recent edits redirecting song articles here and removing wikilinks[edit]

WP:REDLINK states that wikilinks to articles that do not yet exist are appropriate where notability is likely. Given that articles have existed at those song locations for many years, this certainly seems to be the case here. Further, if editors believe those songs aren't notable, they should probably be taken to AfD, not redirected without any discussion given the objections of multiple editors. ~ Rob^Talk 22:49, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Much Too Much[edit]

If the song is written by Townshend, then why is it credited to 'Pavey, Doonican' on the album sleeve? Aejsing (talk) 21:49, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, no one seems to know, or even care. To me it is actually quite crucial whether the song credits are correct.

On my vinyl edition, it says Pavey, Doonican on the rear sleeve, but Townshend on the record label. I did some research, and it turns out that there is a song called "Much Too Much" recorded by Val Doonican, and which is released as the B-side to "A Million Miles From Nowhere". It is indeed credited to Pavey, Doonican (source: https://www.discogs.com/release/1969911-Val-Doonican-A-Million-Miles-From-Nowhere).

Now, unfortunately I haven't been able to find a sound link to that song, neither on YouTube nor on Spotify, so I don't know if it actually IS the same song of if they just share the title. It is possible that whoever created the sleeve for the My Generation album sleeve credited the song to Pavey, Doonican by mistake, but it could also be the the credits on the record label that are incorrect. If anyone can enlighten me, I would be glad. And in any case, shouldn't it be mentioned in the article?

Ok, on Discogs they write in the comments to the Virgin reissue that the song is miscredited to Pavey, Doonican on the rear sleeve. It looks like it only goes for the Virgin release. https://www.discogs.com/release/10160356-The-Who-My-Generation

I LOVE Nicky Hopkins but what tracks did he actually play piano on? I doubt MY GENERATION would be one of them. Please list or at least add titles on whick track he played on please.
