The Darwin fish is just a parody of a religious symbol, there's nothing very scientific about it. Wouldn't Image:PhylogeneticTree.jpg be much more appropriate?--Pharos 09:33, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I agree. Many people who accept evolution would find the legged fishy juvenile or goofy at best -- it's certainly not a very good illustration for the main page unless we want some people to get upset. Phylogenic tree would be fine, so would either Darwin himself or the Origin of Species title page (both pictured at Evolution). Ideal would be one of the classic fish->toad->monkey->man progression pictures, but we don't seem to have one. Anyway, can't we go with a different image? Jwrosenzweig 23:04, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I and others on the talk page for the image in question agree. Many Christians would find the current image offensive and biased.--Mattlary 02:15, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)
I see the Darwin fish more as an anti-religious symbol than a pro-evolutionary one. Stick with Darwin's picture. Dbiv 09:46, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
