This DAB page[edit]

This page was recently moved from Tatar which now re-directs to Tatars. It seems that previously Tatars was named Tatar and was moved with the latter becoming a DAB page. However in the course of fixing links that went directly to the DAB page I found that:

  1. Only around 8-9% of links to the DAB page were not intended directly for Tatars and of those most were cases of editor error (linking [[Tatar|Crimean Tatars]] instead of [[Crimean Tatars]], or a small number of links that should have been to the language.
  2. Of the 91% of links that should have been pointing to Tatars about half the original editor had displayed the correct article name Tatars and intentionally linked to Tatar think it was the correct article.

Given all of this I posed the question as to moving the DAB page here and redirecting Tatar to Tatars. I put the question up at Wikipedia_talk:Disambiguation_pages_with_links#Tatar_vs._Tatars and Talk:Tatars#Tatar_vs._Tatars and then waited several weeks. At the time that I posed the question I went ahead and went through all of the links going to Tatar and fixed any that were not meant to go to Tatars (but left those). Now that I have changed the redirects etc I will do another pass through links to Tatar just to be sure. Dalf | Talk 21:14, 4 September 2005 (UTC)</nowiki>[reply]

Proposed restructuring[edit]

To bring this into line with normal practice, this page should be merged with the main Tatar article, except for those meanings which are totally unrelated, which should appear on a dab page at Tatar (disambiguation). Any objections?--Kotniski (talk) 18:00, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
