Death of Children[edit]

Can some elaborate on the "mysterious" nature of the deaths of his sons? What exactly happened and where? Dr. Dan (talk) 00:22, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to this webpage: http://www.videofact.com/mark/Kuklinski/zemsta_kgb.html (the title says vengeance of KGB) his first son disappeared in january of 1994 in the seashore (does it apply for ocean too? :) of Florida while scuba-diving. He first was suspecting that his son was kidnapped by Cuban commandos and that they'll simply just ask for ransom (or in exchange for Kukliński - that sentence is ambiguous). But this never happened so he lost hope. They never found Bogdan's (that's his son name) body.
Half year later, the second son (Waldemar, he's older) was hit by a car and killed. The driver didn't stop and the car was found abandoned and completely cleaned of any fingerprints. The killers of both of his sons were never found. Takeda (talk) 08:12, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death[edit]

I'm removing this fragment from "Death" section:

It was recently revealed that his death was caused as the result of anger brought to a head by an insult published by the correspondent Bartosz Węglarczyk of Gazeta Wyborcza.[1][2] Dr. Józef Szaniawski confirmed the events leading up to the colonel's death and what was an intentionally, sensationally, deceptive and maliciously written review of the book: A Colonel's Secret Life by Benjamin Weiser. He was buried June 19, 2004 in the row of honour in the Powązki military cemetery in Warsaw, Poland, along with his son Waldemar.

First "cite" link is obviously link to Bartosz Weglarczyk blog page. The second one, describing cause of death is not reliable - it's blog page of one of polish MPs, known from his controversial opinions. Removal of maintenance template without addressing the issue[edit]

Are 24 related links, some of which are not in English in the spirit of "kept minimal" per above? e.g. [1]. All the subpages of [2] are excessive. So far there's no justification for this excess so I'm reinstating the tag, and these can be removed by anyone per guideline, please don't remove this maintenance tag without addressing or justifying these links. Vietnam[edit]

In Jack Strong it is mentioned that the was in Vietnam and he could buy an Opel Rekord with the wages he got there. Confusing Terminology[edit]

As of the date/time I'm typing this, this article contains the text "According to some historians, it was possible that Kukliński was a double agent, ...". Umm, wouldn't that be a TRIPLE agent? If he was loyal to the U.S.A. or N.A.T.O. or the E.U. while performing any government job in Poland, that's a DOUBLE agent, right? A single-agent is someone who just SPIES, right? I mean, a single-agent could pretend to be a tourist and then when the guards aren't looking dive over a fence and photograph something secret. A single agent doesn't admit to being a spy, but also doesn't PRETEND to be a spy for one side while really working for the other side. That's a "double agent", which is what Kuklinski was if he was loyal to the "West" while being employed by a communist country's government.2600:1700:6759:B000:1C64:8308:33BC:E2D6 (talk) 05:04, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Christopher L. Normally only espionage activities are counted for terms double and triple agent. A spy doesn't have to pretend to be a neutral entity like a tourist. Earning the target's trust, getting employed by them, and pretending to be loyal to them in order to get access to the information of interest is just regular "single" espionage, not double agent work. "Being employed by a communist country's government" doesn't make him a double agent because his job for the said government wasn't specifically to spy on the West. If he were to actually work for the GRU while pretending to work for the CIA, that would make him a double agent just like written. – MwGamera (talk) 06:39, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
