Article moves

Hi, when you think an article is at the wrong title (Aelius Sejanus), please don't use cut-n-paste to move the content - it loses article history, making it more difficult to track down vandalism and the like. In the Sejanus case, since the redirs already exist, you would need to get a sysop to delete a redir - but see Roman naming convention and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ancient Romans) (which would suggest just "Sejanus" actually). Naming wars

Since you were either directly or indirectly once involved into edits revolving around "proper" naming of cities like Gdansk/Danzig etc i thought you may be interested in my proposition in User:Szopen/NamingWar. I would want to create a way aimed at stopping the revert wars in future - through creating something like a msg (in see also list or header) explaining that's there is compromise and why, and by linking to the article explaining changes of the statuses of the Royal Prussia province (I would prefer it ot have it as separate article, not scatter it in plethora other articles). Boarding schools

'Revive'? Was there such an article before? I saw the phrase 'Indian Boarding School' linked elsewhere, and thought it should be linked in Native American in case someone decides to write an article about it. I didn't intend to write such an article myself, though I suppose a stub might be possible.

There seem to be lots of links in Wikipedia which point at nonexistent articles, so I didn't think this would be a problem. --Saforrest 20:37, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)

You did a little error of linking to "schools" rather than to "school" (wikipedia style dictates titles in the singular) . But "indian boarding school" is a redirect back to native american... Thanks for cleaning up the article a bit. The Wikipedia articles on various terrorists and suspected terrorists are in really shoddy shape. It's been a long-term goal of mine to clean them up. (I pretty much have each of the organizers of the September 11, 2001 attacks the way I like them, but the rest of the mujahadeen worldwide have terrible articles.) Anyway, thanks. Category:Lists_of_two-letter_combinations

Hi, following Wikipedia:Disambiguation and abbreviations I spent some time grouping to together many uppercase and lower case combinations. In fact, often both are used for the same or there is a confusion which one to use. In cases where just one is acceptable, the casing to be used is added in bold. I'd appreciate if this weren't undone without discussion. -- User:Docu

Sorry; I had seen the usage of multiple disambiguation pages for distinct cases done in other pages, and decided to follow that. I should have looked for the document describing the relevant convention.

If you continue re-factoring them in a consistent way, I don't mind if you changed them back, even if I'd prefer personally to keep them on one page (e.g. MB). BTW The relevant convention could probably use some expansion or even a complete update. -- User:Docu

Categories

Hi..in case you didn't know, when you categorize an article about a person, you should actually use the format [[Category:Topic|Surname, First name]] rather than just [[Category:Topic]]. If you don't do the extra step, the article files incorrectly on the Category page (eg. Abdullah Almalki files under Ab instead of Al.) This also applies to articles whose title begins with The, by the way. Bearcat 09:24, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Deleted page at nn.wikipedia

Hi Saforrest!

You seem to have thought that userpages at nn.wikipedia are stored under a "Bruker:" namespace and have thereby made your userpage at nn:Bruker:Saforrest. Since userpages are not stored at "Bruker:" but rather "Brukar:" your page was moved to nn:Brukar:Saforrest by User:Arj, as it seemed to me that you had made the page at nn:Bruker:Saforrest in pure error I have deleted the now redundant resulting redirect at nn:Bruker:Saforrest. As I myself don't take lightly on deletions I will only need a little hint to undelete the page again immediatly, but I cannot see why you would want that. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. Hebrew

As you claim to be monolingual, I was intrigued by your decision to delete the pronunciation of the Hebrew name of the Mediterranean Sea, leaving only the Hebrew letters for everyone to read. Since you yourself don't appear to read Hebrew, how do you expect everyone else to?

I have to admit I don't really have a specific source; I was going on my own memory of what I'd read about them. Maybe my memory was faulty, I suppose, or maybe I actually did read erroneous information somewhere...I really don't know. Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? minor?

Hi Saforrest, I appreciate your contributions to Théodore Sindikubwabo, but could you please use the "minor" designation less liberally? It was offputting to see three edits marked as minor in the history without edit summaries, which actually added significant new content and restructured the article.
