Hi!
I saw you removed the disparaging sentence on Vanhanen's language abilities. Good!

You've also contributed to the lists of renowed representatives of political parties, and hoping to be able to express my thoughts without hurting you (and your compatriots, I guess, given that you are a Finn), I am a bit surpriced by these lists' tendency to grow. I mean, reputation is not an absolute entity. It can always be argued that someone else is at least almost as well-known and respected and whatever as someone who already is on a list of Prominent Representatives. But, especially for small countries like Finland, the number of names which in reality are remembered abroad is rather limited. Paasikivi, Mannerheim, Tanner and Kekkonen most definitely belongs to them, but ...Relander, no I wouldn't guess so.

...So, by "hiding" the real prominences among lots of other people, we do in my opinion make the list to "a chunk", which the fast-reading www-reader easily jumps over, as it looks less interesting and less relevant or something similar, ...and thereby the merit of the list is lost.

It would be another thing if a list consists of a few instances, of which one or two are already recognized by the reader. - "Aha," the reader reacts, "Foreign Minister Vaino Tanner, that's a name I've seen somewhere. So he is a Finn and a Social Democrat. Interesting. Weren't they on the side of the Nazis? Hmmm...." And chances are that the reader's curiousity will lead him to learn a few more things, and maybe cure a few misconceptions. :-)

At least that's how I think of these www-pages.
Bests regards!

I wouldn't worry of a tendency to grow, unless someone else continues. I think of these lists as a top ten, at least for the "tripod parties" (Center, Social Democrats and National Coalition). Of course practically all the Center-Partists are in the shadow of Kekkonen. Perhaps ten or less == a few is a good compromise? There are many people who are "prominent" also on merits outside politics (Linkomies, Tulenheimo and Ingman from National Coalition come to mind.) Note also that there is only one non-prime minister on these lists: Vayrynen from the Center Party (he wins easily the award most hated politician in Finland). There are no other non-prime ministers I would add.

Well, well, I did at least try to convince you. :-)) -- Ruhrjung 13:14 2 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Tervehdys! I see that you added language to suggest that Ukko was a primary god in Finnish mythology. Although I agree that he latterly was much emphasized; I beleive that there is a theory that the phrase Ukko Ylijumala originally referred merely to the fact that he presided over the ylinen -- that is sky. It's not a big problem though. Probably the matter is best explained in its article. -- Cimon Avaro on a pogo-stick 10:08 8 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Anyway, I must say that I'm impressed by your energy. You've written half-a-dozen articles I'd been considering, and quite a few others! If it weren't for the fact I suspect you're a Finn, I would have declared my love for you. :-)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

I see that you are listed as a contributor for this project. Because the project is incomplete, I would like to find out what the current plans are for the project. Much work is still needed, particularly for constellations in the southern sky. I believe we need to do the following:

 1. Complete the infobox for each constellation.
 2. Standardise the format for each constellation.

On my user page, I have posted a few ideas for standardisation and I would like some feedback. --  B.d.mills  (T, C)
