More than one beach claims to be the "world's longest". A beach at Fraiser Island, Australia is supposedly 125km. There are "90 mile" beaches in Australia and New Zealand but they are not necessarily 90 miles (144km) long. Goatherd 21:21, 7 Mar 2004 (UTC)

While I admit that it is not the largest sea port, many sources like Encyclopedia Britannica and the official Indian Army and Pakistan Army reports suggests that there is a sea port though a small one. As far as the shelling and the existence of the airstrip, atleast in 1971 it did exist and was intensively shelled despite the presence of small gunboats defending the area, the Indian Navy achieved it's objectives. This and other reports (from India) say the airfields at Chittagong and Cox Bazaar are distinct since they mention both targets separately. As can be noted the reference quotes a Pakistan source so that should settle any doubts, unless there's some information gap. Thanks. Idleguy 18:20, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

It is not a sea-port like one where ships dock, it is more like a fishing wharf (which I saw during my last visit there 2 years ago). East Pakistan and now Bangladesh has only 2 ports which can be termed as sea-ports (Chittagong and Mongla) There is of course an airport in Cox's Bazaar. --Ragib 18:57, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tx for the info that it's not a full sea port but a fishing wharf. I assumed that it must either be a small port or a big wharf since many gunboats docked there during the '71 war. Hmm. So I guess a change in the word from port to wharf would be better with a mention that it was converted to a small wartime "port". What do you suggest? Idleguy 19:21, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks ... I think changing "Sea-port" to "port" should be ok. Sea port brings the idea of ships docking there ... while this is certainly a port, but more of a wharf-kind, we can use "port" without any qualifiers.
