RSS[edit]

A user has proposed that featured articles should contain the little orange box indicating an RSS feed. I'm not sure this is a good idea. See Wikipedia:General complaints#RSS Feed for Featured Articles. Bovlb 14:41:42, 2005-08-16 (UTC)

error w/ email?[edit]

What's up with the edir link for the email? Error? or is it on a transitional stage? It's very visual (Main Page), so action might be required quickly. -- WB 20:30, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

FA number[edit]

editprotected

Why not adding the FA number to this template? 16@r (talk) 01:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

☒N Not done Because it would be a security risk to transclude a semi-protected, rather than fully-protected, template onto the main page. The semiprotection allows users to update the number; the number would likely get out of date if full protection were used. --ais523 10:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
If this template is included on the main page, it shoud indeed be fully protected. And then I don't think it's a problem if it can be updated only by admins. Since the main page has a high-visibility, there is no chance for this to stay out-dated for more than a few minutes. So please give it a chance. 16@r (talk) 12:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
☒N Not done - ais523's reasons are good, and what would the number really add to the page? If we are going to change this, there should at least be wider discussion. Nihiltres{t.l} 19:28, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By RSS[edit]

How about adding a link to this RSS feed (more info here) as an option to e-mail? Possibly using the well-known RSS icon: . /skagedaltalk 15:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Archive" -> "This month"[edit]

Perhaps we should change the word "Archive" to "This month", because the page you see when you click on it lists all the FAs of this month. That isn't really an "archive", at least not yet. Cheers, theFace 19:43, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Archive" is still more descriptive than "This month". Now, if you were suggesting "Archive: This month", that'd make more sense. But for now, "Archive" is best. Gary King (talk · scripts) 00:30, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with Gary. Raul654 (talk) 02:25, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

align right, not float right[edit]

Please change this template to:

<div style="text-align: right;" class="noprint">Archive – By email – More featured articles...</div><noinclude>

</noinclude>

There are two changes here. The main one being text-align: right; instead of float: right;. This is to prevent floated content from dropping out of floated containers (such as this template can be used in). Note that this is pretty much how this template used to work, albeit with align="right". An example of this float problem can be seen at:

It's likely elsewhere, too. This will also benefit redesigns of the main page, such as on offer at:

(template is used in the TFA blurbs and this has long driven the use of tables for layout on pages such as the main page. which is a bad thing;)

The other change is just using actual endashes instead of character entities and &nbsp; with them per the usual MOS conventions. Note also, that the similar bit of the other TFA modules are already using text-align: right; to good effect. No baulking on this request, pls; it's a good and safe fix.  Done, cheers. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 11:11, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Terima kasih. Now I can revert the middle bit of this (after ln#149) and the IE7 & IE6 hacks that I would have had to add later. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 11:36, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Formal proposal to add About link to TFA blurb[edit]

Please discuss at Talk:Main Page#Formal proposal to add "About" link to TFA blurb on main page. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:29, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
