Merger proposal[edit]

User:Extremophile has suggested merging this article with ink and wash painting but failed to give any arguments for doing so.

I tend to support such a move because:

  • This article on "Brush painting" is quite clearly about Oriental brush painting, not Western oil painting or watercolours, both of which use brushes. The subject scope is clear from the discussion about the use of colour. Thus, the content is essentially the same as Ink and wash painting or sumi-e.
  • The article itself is incoherent and sketchy. It fails to provide an encyclopaedic introduction to the art, contenting itself with a few disjointed commentaries.

For these reasons, I support a merger. How much of the article can be salvaged for incorporation into the article on sumi-e is a questionable point. Most of this article should simply be scrapped. That is, "deletion" is probably a better description than "merger".

  • Agreed. I think a redirect is fine. Johnbod (talk) 02:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
