I think I'm going to remove P.D.Q. Bach. I do not think it wise to include fictional characters on the date pages. Louis Kyu Won Ryu 18:47, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Just put "FICTIONAL CHARACTER" or some such nearby. PDQ is a special case because the published descriptions are so deadpan that people are going to keep re-adding because they think he is real. Better to forestall by having something here already. Stan 19:56, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I agree with Louis Kyu Won Ryu, because, now that I think about it, the birth and death dates of fictitious characters are not useful to people studying historical context with the aid of the date pages. On the other hand Stan has a point about people re-adding his dates, whether they think he's real or not. Dmetric

years page layout[edit]

I have made some year layout proposals which would affect a significant proportion of the year pages: an example of proposed style is 1850. It is detailed on my talk page. However pre 1800 the change is largely cosmetic.

If no-one flags where I have put the discussion on my talk page that they object in a month I will start making everything consistent. It may take some time... --(talk)BozMo 16:19, 11 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Vandalism[edit]

There is a section in Births for a man named Steven Banik, his description is Renaissance Man, died 1744. That means this guy was two years old when he died. Dubious entry[edit]

"* March 29 – Acting in his capacity of Grand Duke of Lithuania, Poland's King Stanisław August Poniatowski issues a proclamation allowing Jews in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius to live anywhere except for two public streets, the Pilies street and the Galves Street." A reference is given to back this up but the problem is that Stanislaw Poniatowski only became Polish king and Lithuanian Grand Duke in 1764 and would have been a mere 10 years old in 1742. So either this happened much later or the proclamation was by Augustus III. Proofreader (talk) 20:06, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
