The mexican television network Televisa during the month of April to May 1986 days prior to the 1986 FIFA World Cup produced and broadcast every sunday in the Canal de las Estrellas a show where the intro was Jean Michel Jarre´s Rendez-vous 4 like soundtrack showing the images of the best plays of every previous World Cups.--Nekko09 (talk) 02:55, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

The proper spelling is Rendez-vous, with a lower-case v (see the french article). DES (talk) 21:49, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ron McNair[edit]

This really doesn't sum up, Ron was supposed to record track for the album from space but was killed in challenger disaster 28 January 1986. But the same Ron was supposed to play live from space in April for Texas concert. No space shuttle could ever stay for that long in space and I really don't think Ron was supposed to go on another flight just month after the last one. The plan was to use the video recording of his "in space" (January) performance, projected onto nearby buildings at the concert in April. The "in space" aspect seems to have led to the popular misunderstanding that it would be a live hook-up, despite the fact that a synchronised feed from an orbiting shuttle would have been highly impractical. (Disregarding the likelihood of launch delays, the transmission distance would vary by hundreds of miles during a 3-minute continuous radio link and any relaying would add further complicating factors.) I have removed the "live from space" reference. Mrstonky (talk) 13:27, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NASA 25th Anniversary[edit]

I have removed a phrase stating that the 1986 concert celebrated "NASA's 25th anniversary". (The source of this inaccurate information appears to be Jarre's own website.) NASA's 25th took place in 1983; whilst it may have formed inspiration for the 1986 concert, it was not connected directly to the event. Mrstonky (talk) 12:14, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rendez-Vous 98[edit]

It would be useful to mention the "Rendez-Vous 98" remake here, since this single does not have it's own page on wikipedia.
