He has an another connection to Star Trek: He is uncle of Alexander Siddig.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.152.11.64 (talk) 14:30, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Has anyone ever figured out which of Malcolm's sisters is Alexander Siddig's mother?

Could we umm...[edit]

...oh, I don't now... get a CURRENT picture of this actor? -G—Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.117.157.66 (talk) 01:17, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The current top picture is really rather horrible JayKeaton 00:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad for you. Try finding another free alternative.--CyberGhostface 00:15, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, not too bad for me. Too bad for Wikipedia JayKeaton 04:08, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, too bad for you. Believe it or not, not everyone at Wikipedia shares your opinion.--CyberGhostface 17:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just clicked on this page and logged in to share my opinion that your photo is terrible. That's how bad it is. Ultrapeanut 03:08, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow...its so bad a user with one edit logged on to whine. Unless either of you have a free image to replace the current one with, whining isn't going to solve anything.--CyberGhostface 03:14, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Or we could all not be assholes to each other and agree that it is indeed a bad picture and that it unfortunatley cannot be replaced unless someone can find a better free alternative.Glassbreaker5791 03:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia section[edit]

I gotta say, I don't think the Trivia section adds anything at all to the article. The only point that might be even vaguely noteworthy is the last point about being confused with Roddy McDowell, but even that would need some citation. The list of famous people he's portrayed seems rather bizarre, since it contains entries who aren't actually particularly famous in the English-speaking world (Chikatilo) and two entries that aren't even actually people, but rather fictional characters (at least one of whom, Whistler, isn't even a famous fictional character). After reading through Wikipedia:Trivia, I'm going to go ahead and remove the section. Binabik80 04:46, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any chance we could add some stuff about his performance in Wing Commander? (the PC game.) I mean, that's where i first saw this guy, after all. Adrianke77 03:36, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a bit about his role in the Wing Commander games, maybe someone else could expand on it a bit?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.195.53 (talk) 09:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Malcom McDowell was actually in the O.C. as one of the main characters father, surprised this doesn't feature in the wikipedia article? Maybe someone with a bit more experience could add the relevent years of the O.C. to the article.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.240.211.4 (talk) 13:16, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

south park episode[edit]

may i know which episode of south park he was featured in, thx —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.146.150.24 (talk) 02:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

it was Pip, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pip_%28South_Park_episode%29 68.90.16.2 20:59, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should the South Park mention be listed in the voice work category? He actually appears in the episode, not just his voice. DK (talk) 00:05, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Aceshigh mmd.jpg[edit]

I first became interested in Malcolm many years ago with his part in if.... I myself went to a similar school. Does anyone know what Malcolm's actual school history was ? 82.13.143.58 (talk) 01:25, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The filmography on this page omits the 96-97 series Pearl where Malcom McDowell played a college professor.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.5.164.235 (talk) 03:51, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As of 2012-08-30 both Pearl and Caligula are included in the filmograpy. 173.45.200.48 (talk) 04:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Knighthood?[edit]

I've met Malcolm and know quite a bit about him, but never heard the mention about knighthood. Anybody have a reference for this? If not, it should be removed, even though it would be nice if he was asked to be knighted. Quistisffviii (talk) 09:13, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can find no evidence of that at all, so am removing it.--Alf melmac 10:49, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat unlikely. Isn't he practically an American citizen now?137.198.122.152 (talk) 16:21, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"practically an American citizen" has little or nothing to do with it; if the Brits think he's worthy, the honor may be offered. There are two better reasons for removing it:

References

Caligula[edit]

For better or worse (probably worse) Caligula_(film) is probably one of the movies most strongly associated with McDowell. Is there a good reason to omit any mention of it? Dvd Avins (talk) 20:14, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

very strange.[edit]

..."son of Edna (née McDowell), a hotelier, and Charles Taylor, a pub owner.[1][2][3] However, six weeks after McDowell was born, his family relocated to the east coast of Yorkshire (in Bridlington) because his father was in the Royal Air Force" - so the RAF employs pub owners? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.177.202.226 (talk) 05:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't say that his father owned a pub at the time he was born. Most likely he served in the RAF and then later owned a pub.--RLent (talk) 20:10, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obsolete comments about pictures[edit]

The current pictures (as of 2012-08-30) are:

None of these are mentioned in the next section ("Could we umm..."); furthermore, all seem to have the proper permissions file in the OTRS system, which resolves the issues raised in the following three sections (about fair use rationale).

I have therefore made this new section, & rolled the 4 old sections, unchanged, into it. My intention is improve this Talk page by making it easier for readers to skip sections that are no longer current. If I am violating some policy, please revert my changes. 173.45.200.48 (talk) 04:01, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is "Filmography, Voiceovers and television work" too large?[edit]

This section contains 159 entries, I think it should be split into several sections, or made into a separate article. It also should be made into a table or three: Film, Voice, and TV perhaps

If an actor is prolific, a blog has no real extent. Curious blank spot 1977 & 1978 He had a major TV gig "The Fantastic Journey" I liked it, should be listed. Please list then delete this entry, thxs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.58.248.44 (talk) 03:13, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed—the articles I've seen on actors this prolific direct readers to separate articles for lists of their work. It seems unnecessarily overwhelming, IMHO, having this much content on one page. – AndyFielding (talk) 12:04, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Reprise"?[edit]

He is having a reprise in the Canadian comedy series "Son of a Critch"…

I found no evidence that McDowell was in a previous version of this show. Is it possible the person who wrote this didn't know what "reprise" meant? – AndyFielding (talk) 12:07, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
