Errors in Population Percenrages?[edit]

I am confused by the percentages listed under populations demographics ... they far exceed 100%, even given the 6+% of persons who are of mixed race. unsigned comment was added by 65.174.137.130 (talk - contribs) 11:47, 20 March 2004 (UTC).[reply]

Go check the sources yourself? Follow the CDP link? Lentower 16:45, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Octagon House part of Modern Times?[edit]

Isn't the Octagon building off Brentwood Road near the center of town a building of Modern Times? RahadyanS 14:26, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's my memory, but it shouldn't be added to the article until someone checks it out in a citable source. BTW, the Octagon building has been moved to the School grounds on Third Avenue, opposite the oldest water tower. Funds are being sought to stabilize it, then turn it into a historic classroom. At least as of five years ago, when I was last in Brentwood. Lentower 16:45, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll confirm that with info from either the Brentwood Library or the Suffolk County Historical Society in Riverhead. RahadyanS 17:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do we need a separate page for Modern Times?[edit]

The page Modern Times is essentially a copy of part of this page. Do we really need two separate pages like that? --Coppertwig 22:47, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's almost a copy of a section of the List of anarchist communities: Modern Times, so there are three copies. I'm suggest merging the Modern Times article here, and making it a redirect. This article is not that long, and the Modern Times article is very short. Modern Times (disambiguation) would also have to be updated
And leave the List of anarchist communities: Modern Times as it is. Lentower 02:09, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This merge was done some time ago. Lentower (talk) 13:28, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update to 2010 Cenus?[edit]

This article (and I suspect many others) could be updated to the 2010 US Census. Lentower (talk) 13:26, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Before Modern Times[edit]

Chapter I - Before Brentwood in Dyson's A Century of Brentwood, has a lot on the history before Modern Times that could be included in this article. Lentower (talk) 21:11, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Farming & Hispanic Migrant workers[edit]

Before Brentwood became developed by the post-WWII suburban housing boom, much of it's land had been farmed. Much of the farm work was done by migrant workers, many of Hispanic descent. Note this personal anecdote of Hispanic migrant farm workers, some of whom settled in Brentwood:

"Rich Roberts Good friend family 5 generations, the Vasquez's. Andy said Hispanic migrant workers settled going back a good 100 years. One would think the Hispanic history and presence in Brentwood would be an interesting story. Most settlers in 20th century really newcomers compared to early farmers and farm workers."[1]

This anecdote is not a WP quality source.

If WP quality citations can be found, both should be included in this article. I have not had a chance to check Dyson (1950) or (1953). Lentower (talk) 21:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I came here because of Brentwood's notorious MS-13 gang, which was a lead news story tonight as far away as San Francisco. Five high school students admit they were about to beat a sixth to death with bats when they were arrested. I understand that local historians might be uncomfortable with the topic but after a Presidential expedition and endless news stories, contemporary Brentwood and the evolution of Suffolk County are newsworthy and should be addressed. I grew up on Long Island years ago, and a few months ago they found tortured physical remains not far from the quiet postwar suburb where I grew up. I came here hoping for some illumination about how it reached this point. Profhum (talk) 08:57, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What does CDP mean?[edit]

If it's even going to be the title of a section, define it. Best I can do from a search is "Census Designated Place." But what does that mean? Different from a town? Profhum (talk) 08:54, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
