Dating question[edit]
Are we quite sure about the date of The King's Birthday? As I recall, there's a quip about Blackadder being a Privy Councillor, but "soon to be a privy attendant if Cromwell has his way", which puts it *before* the Civil War... Daibhid C, 22:43 13 April 2005 (UTC)
Removed sentence from list of Blackadders[edit]
(It is possible that Captain the Lord Blackadder from The Army Years is the same modern day Lord Blackadder seen in 'Back and Forth, although no mention of military rank is made there.)
Removed this, as it is virtually impossible. The Army Years is set in WWI, probably 1917, while Back and Forth is set in 2000, thus making it more likely that Blackadder from Back and Forth is his grandson. Bjelleklang - talk 11:25, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Template[edit]
I strongly suggest the use of a picture of one of the more recognisable blackadder incarnations on the Edmund Blackadder template. While I appreciate the original Blackadder is held in high regard by cretain users on wikipedia, the first series is not highly thought of in general public circles. Also, the first blackadder does not represent the more familiar characteristics of the Blackadders (just look at his stupid face compared to the more condecending, refined look of the other 3). I personally would champion Blackadder II who seems the most recognisable. His image is used in the main wikipedia article and was the primary icon used in the Greatest Sitcom series.--Crestville 19:48, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

The image Image:BA2adder.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. A note on historicity[edit]
It says the name 'Blackadder' is Scottish in origin. While in the first serial 'Black Adder' is a title/ nickname, Edmund was in fact revealed in S1E2 to be the illegitimate son of a Scottish nobleman, with whom the Queen (Richard IV's wife) had had an affair in her youth.
