Aftermarket as Disambiguation Page[edit]

Before I knew that this article existed, I had begun an article called "secondary markets"

The problem is that the two articles are synonyms. But the good news (aside from a great deal I've gotten on auto insurance) is that my "secondary markets" article is significantly different -- more historical in focus -- than this article. So there is a case for keeping them both.

Nonetheless, if they are both to be kept they should be linked to one another, and perhaps one or the other should be renamed to indicate the difference? --Christofurio 20:25, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC) I leave it up to wiser (or at least more veteran wikipedian) heads than my own.

  - Aftermarket has already been merged into secondary markets. If you wish to combine secondary markets and primary market into primary and secondary markets keep the old titles as redirects. mydogategodshat 05:54, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Problem is, this redirect only leads to the securities industry term in which you sell me something and then I sell it to someone else. The target article fails to lead to Aftermarket (automotive) and the misnamed After-market (general), both of which are about the merchandising concept in which you sell me something and then you sell me something to go with it. Because the merchandising sense is an important use of the word, this redirector should instead be a disambiguator. Jim.henderson (talk) 14:40, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  - Resolved this date. Article returned to bona fide disambiguation page form. "Aftermarket" and "secondary markets" as used in finance are niche terms; "Aftermarket" generically is a general descriptor that applies to all manner of merchandise marketplaces. The latter is the broader, more established, more accepted use. Links to such use and niche financial applications may be reached via the disambiguation page, per Wikipedia convention.
