27/03/2007 Ta paul for the early single dates and other record info (im sure it was you) see you soon

17/03/2007, cleaned up the releases, put all singles together in date order and listed "other releases" as only compilations. all songs released as a single i have moved to the correct section. also added to trivia,PAUL D - if you, or anyone else, has the release years for Dirty Den and Youll Be Sorry, could you please enter them NH

all the information is lost now! all the chart positions and her date of birth. is there any way of going back to before it was edited?

Gay Icon Project[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 20:39, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I have taken this tidy-up process a stage further. But frankly, the size of the article is still disproportionate to the success, or influence, of the artiste.
Derek R Bullamore 19:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The size of this artical is TOTALLY relevent to the artist:

KEY FACTS:

  • 5.5 million copies sold of her debut single
  • One of the few British female artists to break America in the 1990s
  • Number 1 chart sales positions achieved in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Brazil, Netherlands, Ireland
  • Nicki is a GLOBAL artist who enjoys WORLDWIDE success far outside the tiny confinment of the UK

Icon II[edit]

THE GAY ICON LINK HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PAGE DUE THE FACT SHE IS NOT GAY??? SINCE WHEN DID A GAY ICON HAVE TO BE GAY???? —The preceding unsigned shouting was posted by User:81.129.194.143 02:34, 6 September 2006

Whether she is gay or not isn't as important as how someone can arbitrarily decide she is held to be an icon by gays. She's played gay bars/clubs, but straight ones too. She's appeared in gay literature, but straight literature. So we give her two cats? Gay icon, and Straight icon? Moriori 03:33, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nicki's last 25 club apperances have been in gay clubs, she has also appeared at Cardiff Pride, Manchester Pride, Bristol Pride, Euro Pride, Lewisham Pride and Oxford Pride this year (All of which she appears at EVERY year), She was part of the 'Gayfest' tour in 2006 and 2007 and contibuted a new recording to the 'Gayfest' album - Her record lable 'Energise' is also geared towards the gay market. In 2000 she recorded 3 new tracks for a gay themed album and headlined the massive 'Stockholm Pride' last year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.194.143 (talkcontribs)

She also performed at Oxford gay pride in 2005...the picture is in the article

I removed the category mainly because it didn't exist. No use adding red-link categories. Gimmetrow 19:07, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you will find it does indeed exist - Just click here...Gay icon - I have added it again to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.194.143 (talkcontribs)

No, the category still does not exist. Gimmetrow 23:29, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bring this article upto standard[edit]

I have just had a bit of a clean-up, however we need to see some sources for those claims of sales and "success". --Charlesknight 15:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They have been added several times and removed by another user this has been reported to Wikipedia as it is an abuse of the page!!

No - what you added was:

All verification of Nicki's chart postions can be found in the official 'Gunniess Hit Albums And Sigles Book' or on the following websites - EveryHit and UKMix.

That is not a source, that is an invitation for other editors and readers to go off and do some research.

Please read Wikipedia:Reliable_sources to get a better idea of what is required when other editors ask for sources to back up claims.

During your re-editing YOU have incorrectly stated that the track 'Te Amo' reached No.4 in the uk charts what was actually written was that it reached No.4 in Brazil - Please when you are re-editing pages can you make sure you do this correctly and do not add mistakes as obviously as this track never reached no.4 in the uk it will be very hard for me to link a source to this section

Nicki reached both No.1 on the amazon and indiestore charts with her latest release - If i add a link to prove this point it will take you to a page ehich allows you to buy the cd - As this is not allowed are their any other suggestions on how i can add a link to prove this massive achievement

In those circumstances - I think a link to amazon should be ok. --Charlesknight 21:52, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of things - can you either get an ID or SIGN your posts with IP? you use the 3rd button from the right on the right when you are doing so. In addition, the correct tone for the article is "French then..." not "Nicki then....".

--Charlesknight 21:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Am i allowed to use links to her official website where some of the information is contained - I have done this previously and the link has been removed Thanks

Grammar and general content[edit]

It's pretty depressing how this page regularly gets updated/brutalised by people with no real sense of English grammar whose sole intention appears to be to inflate and distort the career of a fairly competent singer who has had no meaningful success or wider relevance for at least the past five years. Being a down-to-earth lady, I imagine Nicki herself would be quite embarrassed to be "represented" by some of the statements made (then reverted, then re-reverted...) in this article. 84.92.246.225 21:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe she uses the spelling "Nikki French" so technically the whole page is wrong.

No, it is correct. NICKI French is the singer - 'Nikki' French is someone else (a porn queen I believe).
