Revert war[edit]

I've been making a bunch of edits. It seems at some point the article was astroturfed by someone connected to Hollister Ranch, perhaps one of the realtors. I've been trying to reintroduce other points of view. I may well have overdone this, and I'm happy to discuss any particular points here. --ScottMorrison 00:37, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The astroturfing by anonymous editors continues. See in particular http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hollister_Ranch&diff=162909339&oldid=162578491, on October 7 2007, and http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hollister_Ranch&diff=162577551&oldid=161503113, on October 6 2007. Pharoah of the Wizards has already reverted the first of these two edits, and I'm about to revert the second. Both of these edits appear to be copy and pastes of the text from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hollister_Ranch&oldid=149482346, replacing all subsequent edits. Bleh... no fun. I'll continue watching this page. Please, if you're the person making these edits, please discuss your reasons here first before continuing. --ScottMorrison 01:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The following IP addresses have made edits reverting the page back to the approximately the August 6 text.

Email sent to info@hollister-ranch.com[edit]

Just before one of the edits referred to above, another IP from the same range made the edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hollister_Ranch&diff=prev&oldid=162578491, which adds a link to the real-estate agency http://hollister-ranch.com/. I decided to attempt to contact the owners of this website, on the presumption that they are behind the recent series of reverts. I sent the following email to them, October 21, 2007. 

Subject: please stop vandalising wikipedia 

My sincere apologies, first, if you are not responsible for the recent
series of edits to the Hollister Ranch wikipedia page,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollister_Ranch

Instead of continually copying and pasting an old version of the text
over the Hollister Ranch page, could you please make appropriate
edits, adding citations to support statements that need support, or
indicate by adding the {{fact}} tag that some statement you disagree
with on the page needs a supporting citation.

You can also discuss changes which you think should be made to the
page at the talk page,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hollister_Ranch.

Also, it is a great idea to log in first when making edits to
Wikipedia pages. If the current situation persists, I will ask for
semi-protection of the Hollister Ranch page, which will make anonymous
edits impossible.
